You call my critical thinking into question but you can't even rebut how your "counter-argument" isn't what's stupid. You give it no limit to application. Not to mention you conceded then that if its not about preparing people for working life than the strict policies like failing people on critical tests for being late are pointless. Even if I choose to concede financial matters at 20%, thats still a FIFTH of the paycheck, and since no one is going to just surrender a fifth of their paycheck to make a statement, I say shut up and let people take their tests.

@omegilla @wra219 @WildSentences The limit to application is unconventional jobs. i.e Musicians, Small business owners (to an extent), Consultants, Athletes, etc. The college is meant to gatekeep access to certain communities and create a group of people who are trained/conditioned to be a certain way.

@omegilla @wra219 @WildSentences What's really disturbing is that you think being late is fine because you pay to be there. Late to airport, plane not waiting. Late to dinner reservation, table given away Late to doctor appointment, waiting room for you Late to meet and greet, they're gone.

Its a very stupid argument because that applies to a large swath of people beyond just college professors. The literal, actual, very real paycheck the professor lives off of comes directly from the tuitions that students are paying. College isn't a work environment. Its never been about prepping kids for a work life, at least not any more than any other formal education does. And shut up, no, before you even try, even if once upon a time college did try to do more to prepare young adults for the working world, it hasn't for a very long time and so you're still wrong. Its a famously common complaint that new college grads are still very green to the workplace intricacies by people running businesses. So, its worse so since college is again, paid for from the student's wallet unlike schooling before that. If someone is paying to be educated in a subject matter, they are owed a fair education. Being 2 minutes late to a test and being forced into a failing grade for that isn't acceptable, and I'd go so far to say that that professor deserves whatever comes to him as a result of his poor choices.
