Aang not killing Ozai doesn’t really make sense from a practical point of view. Even without bending, Ozai was still a trained fighter, still ruthless, and still had loyal followers who would gladly help him rise again.
Aang acted based on his beliefs, not on strategy. Killing Ozai would’ve removed the threat completely and ended any chance of him coming back or inspiring another war. Aang chose the peaceful route because of who he is, but realistically, ending Ozai’s life would’ve been the safest and most final solution.

Korra losing the Avatar State and people blaming her for it will always be one of the dumbest takes in the fandom. She wasn’t fighting random villains she was fighting monsters who spent years trying to destroy the Avatar permanently: > Unalaq & Vaatu >Zaheer >Kuvira >the entire Red Lotus and honestly? Losing the past lives may have been tragic, but it also forced the Avatar cycle to evolve. If Raava herself could be damaged and the old connection destroyed, then future Avatars relying only on ancient guidance was never fully safe anymore. Korra became the start of a new Avatar era instead of living in the shadow of the old one and people hate admitting that.

Korras character development is far more psychologically layered and nuanced than aangs. Aang’s journey is more mythic and idealistic, while Korra’s feels painfully human dealing with dentity crises, ego collapse, trauma, self-worth, isolation, recovery, and rebuilding herself after losing the very thing she thought defined her.
Aang grew into the Avatar. Korra had to figure out who she was without it.

For the first time since Wan, the Avatar would no longer rely on centuries of guidance, wisdom, or past experience. Every decision now has to come from the current Avatar alone.
It’s tragic, but it also forces the Avatar to stop living in the shadow of legends like Aang, Kyoshi, or Roku and actually define a new era for themselves.
The old cycle was built on preserving balance in an ancient world. Korra’s era is modern, political, industrialized, and constantly changing. Maybe the Avatar losing the past lives symbolized that the world itself had outgrown depending on the past for every answer.
