Not obesity-related cancer. - Heart attack so rare in 1900 the first textbook on coronary thrombosis came out in 1912 and described it as a curiosity And yet there is an entire class of commentator, podcast host, and blue-tick public intellectual who will look at "life expectancy was 47 in 1900" and conclude, with great confidence, that everyone was dropping dead of butter at thirty. They have a degree. They have a Substack. They have not, at any point, opened the appendix of the data they are quoting. The number was an average pulled down by babies dying of cholera. The adults were fine. They lived into their seventies on lard and walked everywhere. Misreading this in 2026, with the data one Google search away, isn't a mistake. It's a tell.
