NOW: a rare Saturday news conference in the Senate as Rs push the SAVE America Act. They are focusing on the voting photo ID requirement, did not directly answer my q about the immediately-effective nature of the bill (REAL ID had a 20-year phase in). Also Thune acknowledged issues with Alaska and concerns about mail-in ballots, but insists their bills have or can deal with that.

You can use REAL ID for all these actions. However under @BasedMikeLee bs bill you can not register to vote just using REAL ID.

As we scooped, Senate is having attendance issues and senators don't know atm if they can vote as planned this weekend (though they would likely still be in session?) Senators also think they'll have attendance issues this weekend Lots of staff talks happening, very fluid

Sen. Lisa Murkowski R-AK detailing her opposition to the SAVE America Act, saying the document requirements place an undue burden on the Alaska government and for state voters.

Since everyone's still talking about the "talking filibuster," I'll just observe that, yes, determined majorities have been able to outlast filibustering minorities. After all, some filibusters failed prior to the introduction of cloture in 1917. Quick🧵
