Two scenarios. Who has a TOUGHER task in on-field skill development? Pitcher: Developing optimal body kinetics & kinematics for 3 quality pitches? Hitter: Developing optimal body kinetics & kinematics to hit three quality pitches consistently?

Here's a well done article about Detroit prospect Luke Gold wherein I am mentioned: freep.com/story/sports/c… It has prompted me to add some detail about Luke, Eric and Ana and my long relationship with them. Coming shortly.

Again, this conclusion/resolution is based on biological reality, merit driven values, and longstanding notions of equality as regards both broad cultural norms, and within which the norms of athletic competition reside.

This is a fact based/biologically based view of the stark differences between male/female athletic performance potential. Importantly, it highlights the the fact that testosterone suppression as regards these biological differences does NOT substantially effect those differences.

As some may have noticed, I have not posted much here in the last mo. or so. Instead I have spent at least 20 or so hrs. on the phone talking in detail about hitting stuff to those interested in "my stuff." This kind of interaction has MUCH greater value compared to twitter!

In stark contrast to my last post , this clip reveals the human quality of sympathy/empathy towards those who need our love and support. I'm always uplifted by these examples!

@setprosports (1) @SteveEnglishbey Two pitchers and two different phases. Similar arm slots but postural dynamics are different. Phase 1: 4 frames from foot plant to foot plant Phase 2: foot plant to ball release

@patricktehan Hey Pat thanks for the clip [had not seen it]. Indeed it is a very good physical representation of my "tilted tornado" analogy!! Also a good ex. of something I started saying yrs. ago as a simple def. of good hitters: They know how to tilt over, hold onto the bat and JUST turn!

@ItDiscovers @jeremy2529 Well yes good question. In the context of MY definition of connection being that of optimizing the "pulling effects" of the hips /shoulders on the displacement of the hands/knob/bat it is non-sensical!

twitter.com/TewksHitting/s… @SteveEnglishbey has done quite a bit of research analytically and experimentally on the biomechanics of the lead arm. Specifically the HOW and WHY it functions/RESPONDS the way it does within an ELITE players swing. Respond is the critical word here 😎
Bobby Tewksbary@TewksHitting

This is my favorite Ortiz clip for studying the lead arm. Lead arm works up, barrel flows to shoulder plane... Watch how the lead shoulder goes from down/in to the rear shoulder "working under" WITH the lead arm staying up/across.

Not clear as to what jeremy is trying to explain; but what I will say is this: His hip action is yet again an ex. of what I refer to as "sitting" ,i.e., hip flexion...lead hip moves AWAY from the plate [sagittal plane] AND starts to rotate [transverse plane]. High level action!

@ItDiscovers This is another VERY relevant point as regards what I consider to be optimal arm alignment by foot plant. [There are numerous reasons---both biomechnical/physiological AND empirical----as to why I say this].

(5) 🚨Back Arm🚨 6. At toe touch you can see the back arm is up & in the shoulder line for all hitters. By foot plant it is down & slotted for 2/3 hitters. The back shoulder is angled under the lead shoulder due to change in shoulder tilt via scapula depression & hip rotation.

#HittingTwitter twitter.com/SteveEnglishbe… MLB orgs are using marker less motion capture systems like Hawkeye, Kinatrax & Rapsodo to leverage biomechanical data for player acquisition & player deveoloment Is it filtering out WHAT’s NOT important Vs WHAT TO concentrate on?🧵 👀
Englishbey Performance@SteveEnglishbey

Well, Mr. Slay thanks for that recognition!! Indeed you are correct in that I have been talking/writing about the lead arm for yrs.
