@KaneBrides @LinnetinCley @SteveHeaven Would love to know if these are from Slimbridge. The assumption I had was that they'd be Fenland birds (especially moving on a day of Whooper passage, despite the low numbers of Bewick's in Norfolk) but bird movements aren't always that clear cut 😉

The decline of Bewick's Swans (through short-stopping in continental Europe) is becoming increasingly well documented. This exquisite species is barely annual in TG04 now, so we made the most of the stunning quintet last night. My word, they're beautiful!

It was nice to see 67 Bewicks either resting or preening on the Tack Piece this afternoon @slimbridge_wild. The 2 Whooper Swans were with them too and spent most of the time courting each other. A couple of bill pics for @SteveHeaven of a bathing pair #GlosBirds

Today, I read my 9,000th colour ring of a #Brent #geese #rotgans since 1989, according to the database geese.org! I'm wondering when I'll reach 10K for science...? N7 was the lucky bird, partner of P8 with two ringed cygnets we caught last week of Dec.23 @niooknaw

From Russia with love! Unusual to find a Black-headed gull carrying a ring with MOSKAWA on it! In fact, this is only the 70th Russian ringed Black-headed gull to be found in the UK! 🇷🇺 > 🇬🇧 Today in Lancashire 😊

In addition to the orange colour rings, which can sometimes be difficult to see on the birds, we are now using blue c/rings on Black-headed Gulls @theroyalparks. Hopefully these new rings will be more detectable and generate more sightings. #blackheadedgull #londonbirds

Of the 7 Bewick's present at @slimbridge_wild, I was able to photograph Maisie and Maifield with their two cygnets, and two of the three newly landed birds which are yet to be identified #GlosBirds

Lovely autumn morning spent at WWT Slimbridge this morning, logged on the @birda_org app. 54 species, hundreds (probably thousands) of individual birds. I've definitely missed seeing the Bewick's swans!
