@AIDEV_X Totally agree. Just a hypothetical example. Actually trying to make a point to SEC staff that purchasing a fixed annuity as a portion of a client’s plan can meet an adviser’s fiduciary duty.

On a $1,000,000 investment what is the difference in fees vs commissions assuming an advisory fee of 1.0% per year and returns of 4% or an upfront, lump sum commission of 5% over a 10-year horizon?

One of my best jobs is to be the permission granter. I love my clients. They are all working hard and making great strides in building wealth. They often ask, “Can we afford (a new fly rod, a new house, a trip to Japan)?” I get to be the one to grant them permission to spend. It’s a fun job!

@JSinghDO 1,000 times this. My wife's first job out of PA school was with a small physician owned group. The hospital was a shitshow but the group made it a fantastic place to work.
