@davidkurten That's cheap. After you take off 20% vat go back to the £7.50 amount and take 2% off for card processing. So unless you want to make the coffee, wash up after, clean the table, pay the rent, buy the crockery, table & chairs, pay about 6 different licenses, then £7.50 is cheap.

Is it just me, or does £7.50 for a coffee and a croissant in a cafe seem extortionate?

From Monday, we’re strengthening sick pay and introducing day one rights for paternity and unpaid parental leave. This is just the start.

@mitrebarnet @blaiklockBP It's actually worrying that so many people compare older people's haves and successes against someone in their 30s or even 40s. For most, success comes later in life after you've made mistakes, learnt and importantly, learnt to graft, and learnt value & patience.

@blaiklockBP It’s not a surprise that a much greater % of those aged over 66 own a home outright. It reflects decades of paying a mortgage and sacrifice. So what is your point?

89% of those aged 66 and over own a property, and the overwhelming majority own outright with no mortgage. 1.7% of those aged 25-34 own their property outright. More than four in ten (42%) British adults under 40 who don't currently own a home have effectively given up on ever owning property — even among those earning over £60,000 a year, 38% say they can't see themselves affording a home in the next decade.

@JamesMelville Pressure on food service delivery companies to stop delivering to parliament. 1. Highlights the hospitality industry 2. Highlights the disgusting hypocrisy of MPs and their benefits in their ivory towers.

Subsidising meals in parliament for MPs and Peers costs the UK taxpayer up to £7 million a year. Despite the public facing huge food price inflation, we pay MPs & Peers to indulge on cheap fine dining. It’s time to remove taxpayer funded subsidies on parliamentary food.

@ret_ward Net zero is misleading. There's still pollution. Offsetting it doesn't make it any better, Pollution and environmental destruction is far more serious. And I'm not talking co2 or methane. If more oil and gas means more energy to create more and free solar panels then 👍

Let’s be completely honest. Those calling for more drilling in the North Sea do not accept climate science and the need to reach net zero. They do not accept reality.

@PolitlcsUK We're a pathetic shadow of the country we used to be. Roll over and have our tummy's tickled. I'd have no problem with EU if they'd just keep their fucking noses out of & respect regional variations in all countries. Ironically they want us to be multicultural.

🚨 NEW: Marmalade will have to be sold as "citrus marmalade" under the upcoming UK-EU food deal This is because EU rules from June will broaden the definition of "marmalade" to include non-citrus spreads

Denby appoints Administrators. Heraldic and Royal Staffordshire potteries went into liquidation. Moorcroft needed emergency rescue. Why does this government just watch as another industry is severely damaged by its high taxes and energy costs?

The elephant in the room that kills small businesses. Holiday pay. You have work for 12 people, but you have to budget for 13. Personally i think you should pay people more, and let them decide if they want time off. Self employed manage it. Nanny state.

@Kate_Dearden You're utterly clueless as to how the world works. Zero business experience. Never built a business, never employed a young person with no skills, trained them up and provided real world education and set them on their way because education failed. Socialists are such idiots.

Today, 2.7 million workers are getting a pay rise. Increases to the National Minimum and Living Wages mean full-time workers could earn up to £1,500 more this year. As Minister for Employment Rights, I’m proud to help deliver this ➡️ boosting pay and helping with living costs

@RachelReevesMP You thick gaslighting fuckwit. Energy is up. 450,000 kids are not lifted out of poverty. Businesses are forced to pay more when they can't afford it, so they are closing meaning unemployment of youth is out of control. You are a government of thick twats, for thick twats.
