I like video games, Pokemon TCG, anime, and sports (Thunder, STL Cardinals, Blues, and Sooners), but not necessarily in that order.

@WiillLiccs @SaladTCG New cards from Ascended Heroes weren’t legal, but reprints were as the set was officially released then. Perfect Order Poke Pad is not legal because the set hasn’t released yet. It’s an unfortunate situation with a rule most disagree with, but a rule that has to be enforced.

@SaladTCG i thought there was just a thing about using the budew ir from ascended heroes before that was legal and everyone was like “yeah, it’s the same card”

PokePad is a card that is in the legal cardpool, and it really should not matter which printing you’re using as long as the card is indistinguishable from every other card in your deck when sleeved. I am not going to argue because I already know I am objectively 100% correct here

@ElizaSheetposts If a player calls a judge right away that’s one thing, but if they wait until they’re about to lose to do it I think that’s worth penalizing.

my hot take is that while i agree the pokepad situation is stupid and anybody rule sharking it is lame, i think judges tweeting "if you call a judge on your opponent breaking a rule, then I'll actually penalize you" is INCREDIBLY unsettling

@CoachDomTCG While I can agree to some extent that calling a judge can be sharking, the information that the reprints are not legal isn't new. It's been a long time since the reprint legality rule was changed to the current version.

@FredSingerIV That’s also a way to look at it as well. Personally I would suggest only playing legal copies of Poke Pad and not risking a tournament run on a random deck check or salty opponent, though I’m not gonna check all my opponent’s Poke Pads just because I’m about to lose game 1.

@StevenMWC Wouldnt "fair" be that someone paid the extra to have the correct cards. The other person is gaining unfair advantage but bending the rules because its convenient for them?

“I’m going to pick up every Poke Pad to make sure they’re all ASC and not POR.” Sure, I guess you can do that but if you’re doing it every round I’d argue that’s using tournament rules to gain an advantage rather than ensuring fair play.

@FishNugget4 @TeamAbra87 I’m not going to fault judges who do uphold the rules when it’s brought to their attention, but checking every Poke Pad for the right set code and calling a judge seems a bit unfair.

@catrachokidd01 @willbeers Should be noted that the TCG Handbook is very clear on when cards become legal. This is just a unique circumstance with one card that hasn’t happened in a long time (if it ever has, I have no memory of anything pre-Plasma Storm formats). Not really the same problem with VGC.

@willbeers So both vgc and TCG are suffering from their incompetence to let their players know what is legal/next format is. Thanks for letting TCG players know. If only vgc had this clarity

I’ll say it, since others can’t. Houston’s organizer sent out a memo saying that Poké Pad POR would be legal for the tournament, which contradicts TPCi’s legality rules. Staff was allowed to confirm that Poké Pad POR was legal for play if asked, but not allowed to disclose the reason why. This obviously didn’t sit well with TPCi and now the organizer is asking staff to delete all social media posts and blaming them for talking about it at all, even though they were initially permitted to. As it stands currently, unless TPCi makes an official announcement permitting the card, if it’s allowed to be played at Houston, it is in direct violation of TPCi’s wishes.

@willbeers This is wild. Especially since the manufacturer intentionally shorted stock initially at set drop to hopefully raise the price of the set. Players shouldn't be punished for this, especially when it comes to something as silly as the 3 letters on the bottom of a legal staple

@cotton_string @Gilbietcg @DannypTCG Prize pack singles can't be sold by league stores until 3 years after the copyright year printed on the card. Unopened Prize Packs can't be sold under any circumstance.

A card shop I know about holds Pokemon TCG tournaments where the entrants have to SUPPLY their own prizes. The judges and the owner of the shop withhold prize packs as COMPENSATION. Sometimes there's no tournaments held because the owner "doesn't feel like it." They also sell prize packs that they "received" as trade ins from people who "play" in tournaments they hold. Not surprising that there's a lot of scummy shops out there.

Yo so this store owner in Tampa originally mainly an OP scalper decided to start running Pokemon events. Went to their first cup and it was one table in a cramped space hardly a store. They decided to last second post a cup for tomorrow morning at 11am while people are at school/work and I checked my Pokemon app to see they have been falsely reporting me at locals to keep their league. Very high suspicion that this is an attempt to keep the Charizard mats and flip them. Since this owner has 2 locations he also has two leagues so double the prize support yet only one mid-week AM cup. Would appreciate the community’s support in sending in tickets 🫡💯

@mattchuangg I mean, I wouldn't blindly trust accusations from him either, but being a Harvard medical professor doesn't make someone incapable of cheating.

Hmmm I wonder who we should trust here, a literal Harvard medical school professor who is also a super nice guy and a dad, or a known homophobe who's sponsored by top kkkut gear 🤷🏻‍♀️

I gave Elon Musk 4$ to make this post in one go. Finally back home from the PR special event! Now that I've had some time to think I wanna start by saying William Hwang aka @HwangDynastyTCG who placed 9th with Grimmsnarl is a 1000% cheater. He palms cards from his deck when he asks you how many cards in hand. Let's 1st start off at the London International Championships. I faced William in round 12 of day 2 playing Grimmsnarl. In game 2 William asked me how many cards in my hand. As I'm counting (given that I'm playing Alakazam and have a usually large hand) I see that he palms a card from deck to hand. I proceed to acknowledge the card that he palmed and told him 'hey that card fell out of your deck' knowing damn well I know he plamed it. I'm just such a nice guy that I don't like calling people out. But of course looking back I 100% should have. He says 'oh sorry and puts the card back into his deck' I win this game because I didn't let it slide. G3 we end in a tie even tho im up 1/6 prizes my favor and have game next turn no matter what. Unfortunate tie. Fast forward to the Puerto Rico SPE. I face William yet again in round 8 of day 1. He's playing Grimmsnarl again and I'm on Alakazam again. We both are already in day 2 at this point and I already know I have to be on my toes to catch him try and cheat again. G1 I lose and as G2 is going William asks me how many cards in hand 'mind you I have like 20 cards in hand' I'm about to start counting and of course he tries to palm again. However I don't let him because I didn't even count my hand. I just said 'alot' because he was doing the palm motion when I 1st started counting but I looked back fast enough to where he couldn't palm. Now why would someone who asked you how many cards in hand accept an answer as 'alot' and carry on with his turn. I 100% stopped the palming that turn. Crazy that he tried to do it again after I caught him in London. Insane... I obviously regret not calling a judge in london let alone in PR. I heard someone actually caught him palming in PR after I played against him but no repercussions were made. The judges/TO in PR were useless. I even heard the ceruledge winner had 4 marked cards and still nothing was done about it. You can even see him take prizes out of order on stream. Moving forward if you cheat against me I will 1000% call you out on the spot. Tired of letting cheaters go. If you also had a similar situation with William feel free to comment. Thanks

@kingdrec1out If the Cup didn’t appear in the event locator two weeks ago, there’s a chance if the Cup does fire that it ends up invalidated anyway and screws over the players earning points. I’d definitely submit a support ticket on it.
