If you participate you will get $1 from me and $25 as a Welcome Gift from X. You can connect a bank account to move money into the account at 6% yearly interest, set up a virtual debit card to spend that $25 while you order your physical metal debit card from the bank…
Mallard Fillmore@skookdude

@WilliamShatner Im very confused, can I add to it after? Does it provide a return? Transfer back to a US Bank? Need more info

Maybe my residents sometimes doubted me also, but I agree that if the patient looks sick and feels sick, they ARE sick, so perhaps your attending was teaching you an important medical lesson. Also; healthy people don’t just fall over and break bones
John Shields, MD, FAAOS@jointdocShields

@SPuro88 @EvanThomas84 On one hand - offensive On the other hand - as a resident I had an attending force me to call a medicine consult because he thought the patient looked sick

Yes, you are exactly right. Physicians must again lead the way using this opportunity, and availability of hospital beds, to provide more effective care. In the years just prior to the Polio Vaccine there were 50,000 American Children paralyzed annually by the disease, with orthopaedic wards or dedicated hospitals full of children with the disease. The last epidemic year was 1956. There were empty wards and hospitals, and idled orthopaedic surgeons, but not for long. This was what allowed modern orthopaedic treatment to begin. Modern fracture surgery began with AO/ASIF, founded in 1958. Sit John Charley performed the first modern hip replacement in 1962. Now, instead of treating the crippling effects of Polio, Orthopaedic surgeons enable those crippled by arthritis to function again with joint replacement surgeries that are some of the most successful and beneficial of all elective surgeries. Fracture treatment was transformed. Previously devastating fractures can now be safely and effectively treated restoring function after terrible trauma. #orthopaedic

@Kekius_Sage In your frame of reference (and every other frame of reference) light is moving at C for all observers, but for a photon time is not passing, so speed has no meaning for the photon

Vince Lombardi said “Practice doesn't make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect”. Some complications can be avoided. A surgeon learns from assisting & from an assistant. A coach can see what you cannot. Orthopaedic surgery has the advantage of intra-op & post-op imaging. M&M conference is essential

I have close friends who, after 50 years, won't talk to me. They no longer tolerate our 50-year differences of opinion that are now intolerable signs of my moral failure & outweigh our history together. I grieve the loss.

Some of the difference, however, is due to individual negotiations. I know two Orthpaedic surgeons, contemporaries with identical fellowship training, recruited to the same university faculty, both working half time at the affiliated VA hospital, hired at the same time in the 1990’s. The male was given a much larger VA salary, corrected about a decade later

If this were actually true adjusted for time, call, availability, specialty, and so on. An enterprising entrepreneur starting a medical group could offer top female (and male) physicians 90% instead of their current 80%, and save 10% of salary costs, making a large profit compared to groups paying males 100%. One would not need to discriminate, just offer 90% to all, and differentially incentivize those currently getting less. The physicians previously getting 80% get a big raise. Win-Win

I’m now maxed out on referrals for the rest of the year. Time to help you guys get some Tesla referrals! Drop your referral links below and I’ll send people asking for a code to the comment section to select one. Won’t be able to help everyone, but will do what I can. For those curious, here's what people ordered using my code: • Model Ys: 6 • Cybertrucks: 3 • Model 3: 1

@northwoods1980 One will see important knee cartilage loss with a standing PA at 30 degrees of flexion x-ray when a standing AP is misleading and looks much more benign. Consider it an essential part of a routine exam

Maybe doesn't matter and I'm just overly particular but w some of the Ortho groups that don't do partial flexion AP, I still have arguments w them because I see this daily. But again, maybe not that clinically relevant and I'm wasting our time?

This is a Woody Allen joke from about 65 years ago "I formed a corporation this year, and I'm the president, my mother is vice president, my father is secretary and my grandmother is treasurer, my uncle is on the board of directors, and they got together the first week, and they tried to squeeze me out".

1. Your 99.99% can’t be correct, because more than 0.01% are participating in and profiting from fraud. More than 0.03% of Americans are convicted of fraud crimes annually, more than 3x your estimate. 2. DOGE claimed that more than 0.1% collected federal funds via waste, fraud, and abuse, 10x your estimate. 3. More than 0.4% of Minnesota received monthly kickbacks for seeking autism services alone, 40x your estimate. 4. If that large majority were against fraud there would not have been enough people left to explain the large support for and to carry out the anti Tesla violence in response to DOGE. About half the country opposes DOGE

Waste, fraud and abuse is the quickest path to victory in the midterms and 2028 for whoever chooses to take it -- Democrats, Republicans or Independents. 1. Perfect target: corrupt incumbents & fraudsters. 2. Easy alignment: 99.99% of Americans want to stop WFA -- the only opposition are the people doing the fraud! 3. Simple Communication: "We're going to audit everything starting in day one of my administration, encourage whistleblowers with payments and freeze funding to anything that smells rotten." ... and perhaps the @america should make this their #1 stated issue? Do the work @GovernorShapiro @GavinNewsom @RoKhanna @JDVance @marcorubio @gretchenwhitmer!

Universal government healthcare could start with mandatory government service at age 18, either military or not, minimum 2 years (maybe 3 or 4 if non military service is elected) for all men and women. Military Veterans would be eligible for VA care, as they are now, and a parallel system could be established for those doing non military service, which could grow gradually as the pool of those who served grows. Nobody gets a deferment from service, and those older than 18 could voluntarily serve, and become eligible after serving honorably. Every American adult would then be eligible for healthcare withina few decades, after earning it through honorable service.

@larryelder I didn’t meet the beauty standards either. Selected “Ugliest Man on Campus”, UMOC, in 1972, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology @MIT , with more votes than anyone previously in the competition, based on natural talent. Still trapped by those beauty standards today

Thank you @DavidSacks @theallinpod for the positive impact upon and education of Americans. Your dedication and personal sacrifices are improving our lives and futures
Ryan Shea@ryaneshea

Let me blow your mind on David Sacks’ accomplishments for a minute, because many (the NYT in particular) are not appreciating just how impactful, transformative and impartial he has been as the AI and Crypto Czar of the United States... Simply put, David Sacks is a force multiplier for American innovation. Here is just a short list of David Sacks’ many accomplishments alongside President Trump and colleagues since taking office on January 20, 2025: Executive Order 14170: Removing Barriers to American Leadership in Artificial Intelligence - January 23, 2025 - Expedited data center construction and AI system exports - Led to wage increases of 25-30% for construction works in related trades - Bolstered US competitiveness against China by fast-tracking 20 major AI export deals, preserving American technological edge in global supply chains Executive Order 14178: Strengthening American Leadership in Digital Financial Technology - July 23, 2025 - Negotiated export agreements with key allies, boosting US AI technology sales by $400 billion and countering foreign dominance in global markets - Developed streamlined licensing frameworks for AI hardware and software, reducing export barriers for 300+ American firms - Hosted international summits to build coalitions, securing commitments from 20 nations to prioritize US AI standards in their ecosystems America’s AI Action Plan, July 10, 2025 - Unveiled a comprehensive strategy with over 90 federal policy actions across three pillars: accelerating innovation, building AI infrastructure, and ensuring a sustainable ecosystem - Spurred private investments exceeding $1 trillion in AI hardware software and data centers, contributing to 4.2% GDP growth in Q3 2025 - Directed cross-agency implementation teams, resulting in 50+ pilot projects launched by Q4 that integrated AI into key sectors like energy and defense CLARITY Market Structure Bill, July 17, 2025 - November 24, 2025 - Helped launch the initiative to integrate AI into federal scientific research, national security, and workforce development - Unified agencies to build a secure AI platform from government datasets, aiming to accelerate discoveries, secure energy dominance, and strengthen the US’ lead on AI relative to China - Publicly championed it as a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity to supercharge innovation, mobilizing over 40,000 AI specialists and fostering public-private partnerships And of course there's much more. It should be self-evident that David Sacks is an American secret weapon on AI and crypto dominance. The US’s economy is stronger, it is expanding job opportunities, and it is better positioned to compete on AI and crypto because of him. Additionally, it's important to point out that he hasn’t favored certain companies over others and certainly hasn’t played favorites with his friends. On the contrary, he’s broadly supported the entire AI and crypto industries in ways that unlock value for everyday Americans. Both AI and crypto are important frontiers of American technology that we as a nation depend on to move our society forward and enable massive leaps in our quality of life. Thank you @davidsacks for your service 🙏. You are exactly what this country needs.
