Fuck Joe DiMaggio: 'My mom tells a Joe DiMaggio story. It was during a World Series. Her grandfather took her to the Series, and Joe DiMaggio and [Yankee pitcher] Red Ruffing were sitting underneath the stands, talking. Nobody was bothering them whatsoever, and my mother goes over there and she says, “Mr. DiMaggio, can I please have your autograph?” He just ignored her. He didn’t say, “No.” He didn’t say, “Excuse me.” So she asks again. And he refused to even turn around. Finally Red Ruffing said to him, “Come on, Joe, just sign for the girl.” And he just sat there. It was like she didn’t even exist. My mother said she would never buy Mr. Coffee.'--Marty Appel, former head of Yankee public relations observer.com/1999/03/joltin…

"Joltin' Joe" DiMaggio insisted on being introduced as the "Greatest Living Ballplayer" at events, including Yankee Old-Timers Day.

Rio Rancho, NM Mayor 70% Reported: 🔴 Paul Wymer – 9,913 (64.0%) 🔵 Alexandria Piland – 5,575 (36.0%) Trump won Rio Rancho by 3 points in 2024, so this is on track for a 25 point overperformance for Republicans.

@LauraPowellEsq @petersavodnik But he wasn’t drinking with her in some dive bar in the middle of nowhere, he was doing it at functions in front of numerous people that he knew. The fact that so many people saw him carrying on with a women who wasn’t his spouse and chose to keep quiet about it is why it occurs

@petersavodnik I am shocked by the number of people who don't recognize that having sex with someone who is too intoxicated to consent is rape. One of the accusers said she was blacked out and then woke up and told him to stop and he did not. What he has been accused of is "actual rape."

1. Swalwell did some very unsavory stuff, and I find it a little confusing that his wife is still his wife, but that's between them. 2. I can imagine some voters voting against him in future elections because of this unsavoriness, but, of course, the voters have been cut out of the equation. 3. Are we missing something? All these women are adults. No one did anything illegal. Definitely inappropriate, crude, wrong. But illegal? Why are we acting as if he blindfolded and raped -- actually raped -- an underage girl behind an alley in the dark of night? If it comes out in the future that there was more to this story, then we should proceed accordingly. But for now, this all feels just a tad overwrought. 4. People keep talking about "justice." Maybe. But real justice demands truth, and we're not getting much of that right now. The truth is the timing of this whole scandal smells awful, with en election six weeks away, and everyone knows it; it's inconceivable that did not play a big role here. Aren't some (most?) of his accusers "content creators," meaning influencers -- people whose livelihoods depend on clicks, shares, *attention*? Why aren't we bothered by the fact that, just months ago, one or more of his accusers were still posting go-Eric-go content? It feels like the public is being manipulated. 5. The Democrats. My God these people roll over like a bunch of pinstriped mannequins. They're terrified of being perceived as in any way having abetted Swalwell's crimes against humanity, so they feel compelled to denounce him with a great, uncontrollable fervor. Never mind that many of the denouncers are, one imagines, guilty of any number of their own indiscretions. 6. The silver lining. It's hard to imagine that Swalwell would have been the transformative governor California desperately needs. Gavin Newsom was lobbying on his behalf, which is why, presumably, the congressman landed the endorsements of the major public-sector unions -- meaning he would have been unable to do much about the state's subpar schools or tackle its budget woes or deregulate an economy suffocating under the weight of decades of pay to play regulation c/o the environmentalists, the plaintiff's bar, etc. Nor would he have held Newsom to account as the now-governor launches his White House bid. There is a chance -- slim but not exactly remote -- that something constructive comes of all of this.

@wideofthepost @TrackAIPAC If there is no correlation between being against aipac and jewish bigotry why is it that anytime I see someone comment on aipac on a tucker Carlson or Candace Owens video I always find numerous bigoted comments towards Jews in response to it?

Why isn’t there any intense public debate over whether or not this former Senator’s bodyguard could consent? Wasn’t he technically her employee?

@ellamaulding Well 20 years ago Kim Kardashian leaked a home video of herself taking it up the ass and parlayed that into a billion dollar industry so I’d say your math leaves a lot to be desired

Erika Kirk pulled out of her event last minute with Vice President Vance, citing “threats”. This is PR horseshit, obviously. He is now doing the event alone at the University of Georgia. What do we think is the real reason she pulled out?

1,200 people showed up for a 600 seat event to hear Ben Shapiro speak at the University of Pennsylvania. Young people want sanity. Not the demoralization being pushed by the podcaster class.
