@MikeWingerii So trump associates with Paula White and Paula is to blame? It would definitely have been better for you to stay silent on this matter than to come to trump’s defense.

It seems plausible that Trump posted that image thinking it was him portrayed as a doctor. Or even as some sort of spiritual healer but not knowing how strongly it implied he was Jesus. It doesn’t take away from the blasphemous nature of the image. And I don’t say this to say, “Nothing to see here folks.” Why is it plausible? Because I think Trump has a shallow understanding of Christianity. Remember when he said “Two Corinthians” instead of “Second Corinthians” when citing his favorite verse? As I recall it was prior to this that Trump was asked for a favorite verse and didn’t have one to state off the top of his head. Then, it seems to me, this was embarrassing and he tried to rectify it when someone sent him a verse and he later read it off as written and was so unfamiliar with Scripture that he didn’t know we say “second” instead of “two.” Now, some scholars will say “two” instead of “second” when reading such texts but it’s very uncommon and I doubt Trump was doing so because he was approaching it from a biblical scholarship perspective. My point is that he could easily not know that the imagery there was clearly consistent with hundreds of years of depictions of Jesus. Maybe I’m wrong and he meant to imply he was Jesus but it seems unlikely. It’s still evil and a reminder of what Nebuchadnezzar said right before he started eating grass. But it was likely ignorance and ego but not an intentional blasphemy. I wonder if Paula White sent it to him. I wouldn’t put such intentional blasphemy past her.

I do believe that he didn’t think of this as a depiction of Jesus when posting. Still, there has to be more care and discernment here.

@WesleyLHuff I was having this discussion with someone recently and it really just seems as though God spoke to people in the language that they would have understood at the point in time. My only question is then, when he revealed his name, can it only be pronounced in Hebrew?

@jblackpost @WesleyLHuff Isn’t hell part of sound doctrine? What are we being saved from? Burning temporarily certainly isn’t as bad as burning eternally. The outcome of the unsaved is part of our doctrine. That’s who Christ came and died for. The should know exactly what they are being saved from.

I dont view it as affecting sound doctrine at all. Bad eschatology has certainly caused more problems than Conditionalism vs ECT. And the outcome of our souls for Christians is the same either way- we go the heaven eternally. The details of how the wicked are punished really doesn't affect us. In that sense, beliefs in purgatory and soul sleep have affected the actual church more deeply historically.

With @KirkCameron announcing his position on conditionalism I’m seeing a lot of people attempting to critique it. I hold to ECT, but I do understand the topic of conditional immortality and I have yet to see anyone actually give a rebuttal that shows me they’ve interacted with the arguments and biblical reasoning from the other side. To condemn conditionalism/annihilationism as heresy is to say that John Stott, Edward Fudge, F. F. Bruce, potentially even Athanasius of Alexandria, are all heretics. This is, with all due respect, ridiculous. While the position might be unorthodox it is not heresy. If you actually want to interact with someone who knows the topic reach out to my friends @datechris and/or @DanPaterson7. Both are solid, fair minded, well educated and articulate holders of conditionalism.

@jblackpost @WesleyLHuff Christians can disagree on something without it affecting sound doctrine. E.g pre-trib and post-trib doesn’t affect the doctrine of the outcome of our souls. Annihilationism tells you that your pain will be temporary and not eternal. One is bearable, the other isn’t.

@jblackpost @WesleyLHuff Orthodox is what we know to be commonly practiced by the early church. Also that’s why I specified a subset of our doctrine. Orthodox Christians teach salvation through Christ. Basic. It’s weird because it’s an hyper fixation on an unorthodox belief.

@jblackpost @WesleyLHuff I used this definition. Wouldn’t this make it heretical? And even outside of that, it’s weird that they have an entire organization dedicated to redefining hell. When have Christians ever had to create an entire organization to oppose a subset of Christian doctrine?

@StevyB868 @WesleyLHuff I wouldn't- I tend to agree with Wes Huff here. But it depends on your definition. "Heresy" is a ridiculously overused word. It's basically the word "nazi" but for Christians at this point.

@StevyB868 @WesleyLHuff There were a few beliefs about the afterlife in the early church- ECT, apokatastasis, and Annihilation. apokatastasis was condemned at the Second Council of Constantinople (553 AD), and Annihilation at the Fifth Council of the Lateran (1513 AD).

@WesleyLHuff Why isn’t this belief a heresy? Is it that we’re not certain that ECT is what the early church thought? If we know that the early church believed in the trinity and called anything else heretical, shouldn’t we do the same with this?

More than a few in the comment section are making my point for me: so many are assuming they know what Conditionalists believe, but by their arguments against it prove they don’t. Once again, I don’t hold to Conditional Immortality, but I’ve attempted to understand it from people who do. If you’re actually interested in representing the position properly and avoid burning straw men (whether they fire burns eternally or only for a time and is then snuffed out) my friends @DanPaterson7 and @datechris will be doing a live stream discussing it youtube.com/live/jztra6H72….

And if you're wondering why we celebrate on Dec. 24th?No, it's not in the Bible (no one is seriously claiming it is) but that doesn't mean there isn't historical precedence to do so. I bet you're viewing this on your phone and you wont find smart phones in the Bible either. But both smart phones and celebrating the in-breaking of God into His creation during the incarnation, can be used for God's glory.

@MikeWingerii I think it’s a strategy by the devil to deter people from God. A person will see a false prophet be wrong and say that Christianity may be false. For him his work is complete. We just have to keep exposing the lies.

"Brother Joshua" the false prophet who stirred the whole world about a September 23/24 rapture, has gone silent. He's no longer doing live streams and his stream from yesterday (where people started getting nervous on camera and asking him about why it hadn't happened) is gone.

@brandonedwards @MikeWingerii I think Mike is just a bit emotional. I thought it was strange but didn’t think it with certainty. But given that it was @DrFrankTurek any reasonable person would throw out the idea. He did look like a secret agent though!
