Just to prove myself right (and because it’s only 48 minutes) I pressed play on "The Punisher: One Last Kill." Starts with a slow-motion montage of Frank doing chin-ups with bloody hands. He takes pills and chases them with alcohol. Then he vomits into a bucket. All while the jarring music of Danzig is blasting in the background. The room is lit by one lightbulb and patches of sunlight streaming through a paper-blocked window. Cut to: Shots of political violence happening in the streets, along with the usual news commentary. Then, a black homeless man talking to himself and his dog. He gets kicked in the head by a white supremacist. The skinhead steals his dog...and throws it in front of a truck. The black man cries. That’s when I knew I wouldn’t like it, but I kept going. Frank is talking to himself and hallucinating. And I realized I wasnt listening to anything he said, so I stopped it 4 MINUTES AND 42 SECONDS IN. Because where is the story, where is the plot? As usual with Disney, it’s just more depressed, mentally-ill bullshit characters that I don’t wanna spend any time with. How in hell has Hollywood deteriorated into THIS?
