@andylarge2m @connor_naismith By all means do your research on local BBC radio sports coverage before you comment. It's very clear that BBC Radio Stoke is an outlier compared to all other stations when it comes to live football commentary scheduling. But you go ahead and try and score inane points.

@connor_naismith Did you hold this meeting as part of your parliamentary work? If so, are you claiming to know better than the BBC how they should deploy resources in this area? Why?

I held a meeting with BBC Radio Stoke recently to discuss commentary of Crewe Alex games across DAB, FM and Freeview. I made it clear that I did not agree with the decision to prioritise consistency over away games, which often results in Crewe's matches being restricted🧵

@RailwaymenThe @hairyhatton @FearnRussell @TrevGriff57 Some wise words from @hairyhatton IMO. I do feel however, he needs to publish his infamous list (and reasoning) for us to evaluate. Next season, I'd like us to not sign journeymen forwards who are well past their prime and to give youth a chance. They can't be any worse!

@StandingAlone77 He was at fault for all 3 IMO. Booth would have been hammered online for making similar errors. Yes he made a couple of good saves but today he showed why he didn't regularly play at a higher level.

Not seeing much criticism for Ian Lawlor. Not sure why. He's been abysmal in recent weeks and he was at least partially at fault for all 3 goals today. #CreweAlex

@RailwaymenThe We can't keep giving away easy goals against big teams with even bigger budgets. Lawlor was at fault for all 3 IMO. That said, thought we played well against 12 men. Should have been a different game if the officials actually enforced the rules of the game.

🚨 Match Report - Crewe 1-0 Salford🚨 There's a real Easter theme woven into this match report. No spoilers but to get 'Crewecifiction' into the first sentence is some effort! A lovely day at the football yesterday, will is continue? 📝 @SmokeyTimRobbo wp.me/pdOxr6-2IQ

@RailwaymenThe One win down, four more needed. We still need to be more clinical as we can't afford to slip up in our remaining games. The one negative for me was the multiple occasions where selfish play resulted in a blocked shot rather than a potential goal scoring pass to an open player.

That is a superb display and a terrific victory. In terms of the bigger context we're at 1 of 5 with 4 to play! (Also thought Matus was sensational today) Thoughts for this wks pod 👇

@RailwaymenThe Am hopelessly trying to remain positive after today's performance so let's just agree that it could have been worse results wise. Need to win all 5 remaining games to stand a chance of a play off place!

Great listen. All panelists on form. Agree with @SmokeyTimRobbo that #CreweAlex’s win versus Oldham was monumental. To come from behind against a good team with such momentum. @Tom_Kural cracked me up ending his poetic paean to Holicek, by describing him as a, “saleable asset”!

@RailwaymenThe A hard fought victory against a physical side that were organised and passed the ball effectively. They were always a danger going forward. Both sides had chances to win the game but we proved that we've got the resilience to come from behind to win a very tight game!

@llewelyn20 @greeborunner We shouldn't be surprised. This is their MO, always has been, always will be. Plenty of people warned us that new leadership wouldn't make any difference. He's just proved how true that is.

@greeborunner Well I wasn't enamoured with his recent speech, put it that way. Ofsted are the chief creators of a dynamic that is toxic in education, but yet we see it in many schools and trusts. They fuel so many bullshit educational myths it's hard to keep up sometimes.

This is really, really good, and articulates my feelings in a way I can only dream of. ‘Amanda Spielman has argued that Ofsted must be free to deliver uncomfortable truths. Yet she appears unwilling to accept that the same principle should apply to scrutiny of Ofsted itself’.
Edmund Barnett-Ward@Edmund_B_W

I’ve been away for a bit. We haven’t been having the best time, to be honest. I’ve noticed a few things happening with Ofsted and their supporters recently, and I’ve written about it. Ofsted, of course, are driving on regardless. difficultlessons.wordpress.com/2026/03/17/dri…

@RachelOrr We were allowed to stop teaching to watch a Henman Wimbledon Semi-Final but the last half hour of an England game was suspension worthy! The irony is that a couple of our parents were professional footballers!

Breakfast clubs - when we had World Cup football that started early morning & finished around 10am we opened school early with a big screen. Kitchen staff made a huge profit on bacon sandwiches as families came to school with their children. No-one was late or absent that day.

@Julespg @RachelOrr I'd argue that the #1 reason HTs become inspectors is to simply get an insight into the inspection process to help their school. Would love to see the data behind inspections of schools with a HT as an inspector. I suspect they're far more successful and treated more leniently.

I’m concerned that some HTs will now be railroaded into becoming inspectors. Inspection remains a high-stakes process & should not be seen as a form of CPD. If we had a system based on true peer review, things would be different-but we are stuck with an awful framework.

@RailwaymenThe Press our back 4. Force the long ball. Lose possession. Rinse & repeat for 90+ mins. Give the ball away easily. Encourage the counter attack. Concede multiple goals. Every opposition now has the blueprint to beat the Alex. Truly depressing.

@vitt2tsnoc @AkilahObviously It's what he does best. He doesn't need to ask insightful Q's to challenge their belief system. He lets them rant and rave and the audience is able to judge them on it. He's been doing the same thing for 20yrs and their arrogance made them think they'd get the better of him!

We watch The Manosphere last night & Louis Theroux does it again! Barely even needs to challenge these men. Just gives them space, a simple question and lets them talk themselves into corners. No need for shouting, grandstanding just quiet observation and immense patience.

@Emma_Turner75 As much as I'm an advocate for using technology to enhance teaching and learning, I still reminisce about the 'glory days' of using a chalk board! And let's not forget about OHPs and the pile of acetates we collected over the years! Today's crop doesn't know what they missed!

When I first started teaching there was no PowerPoint,no digital projection whatsoever & no laptops. Learning the craft ‘analogue’ was a brilliant experience & sharpened all aspects of teaching; I’d still always choose real pen and real board over digital almost 100% of the time.
Sam Strickland@Samstricko181

Teaching with just a pen is a hugely under-estimated art that can have a profound impact on pupil learning…. It relies on the teaching being the expert.
