BREAKING: Snap just laid off 16% of its entire workforce and AI is the reason. CEO Evan Spiegel said in his memo to staff that AI now generates over 65% of all new code at Snap. Small teams using AI tools are doing the work that used to require far more people. The company no longer needs the headcount. Snap expects to save over $500 million annually from this. $SNAP is up 60% in last 12 trading sessions despite the cuts. Disney also announced 1,000 layoffs today. So far in 2026, 80 tech companies have cut over 71,000 jobs. The reason cited in almost every case is the same, AI is doing the work faster and cheaper than humans.

BREAKING NEWS: The Philippines has asked the United States to extend by up to six months a temporary waiver on a US sanction that allows other countries, including Manila, to buy Russian crude oil amid the global fuel supply disruptions caused by the Middle East war, the country’s top envoy to Washington told the Bilyonaryo News Channel on Friday.
Philippine Ambassador Jose Manuel Romualdez said from Washington that the request has already been sent to the US State Department and that he was awaiting its response.
