@DeepDishEnjoyer i have a peloton. its fine. theres outdoor sims that are decent and games that are fun but i feel like every ride feels like 3x the actual time on a stationary and prefer just to ride in the cold or rain

i'd like to buy an indoor bike trainer to help condition myself and ride in the offseason. budget is not an issue. any recommendations? also one thing that would be really cool is if it had a VR setup so i can get the sense that i am biking outside, any suggestions for that?

ive actually considered becoming a headhunter when i quit because it's an easy thing to do part time from wherever and after a career in trading i have the combination of hiring contacts, candidate contacts and just general understanding that might be desirable. may revisit

The intelligence in the recruiting space for quant finance is pretty much the complete opposite of the intelligence of the folks who actually work in quant finance. It’s pretty sad tbh

Age when bone mass peaks: ~30 Age brain is out of adolescence: late as early 30s Age of peak strength: Late 20s → mid/late 30s Age of peak power/explosiveness: Early–mid 20s Age of peak endurance: 30s to 40s The idea we are "done growing" at 18 or "in our prime" at 22 is a convenient argument for pedos but it's not supported by science.

Canadian media the past 24 hours: -Ask McDavid why he’s such a loser - Write hit piece on Matthews in Toronto - Demanding an apology out of Brady in Ottawa 3 captains of Canadian teams who probably wish like hell they could get so far out of Canada right now. Great work, nerds!

And now, a point of grammar and usage. We stopped calling the Fed Chair the Fed Chairman when Yellen became Chair, because Chair sounded better than Chairwoman. But Fed "Chair" is an artifact of 2014-2024 woke bullshit, to put in a time capsule and be buried for eternity. Warsh is not the Fed Chair. He will be the Fed CHAIRMAN. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Torn between wanting to get leaner because if you’re a fitness person on the internet everyone expects you to be shredded all the time (not possible or sustainable for most people, esp women) and loving how strong I am getting while I’m a little heavier. I am STACKING strength and crushing PRs like crazy, but the tradeoff is that my abs aren’t as defined. If I go into a deficit my strength will stall out, that’s just kinda how it works. Will you guys still love me if I have a little squish but can squat 300lbs

Many journalists and economists think this case is about central bank independence. It isn’t. It’s about 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝘀 “𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲” and 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗹 (if any). Independence is the backdrop—not the legal question
Nick Timiraos@NickTimiraos

Fed Chair Powell plans to attend tomorrow's Supreme Court arguments over Trump's attempt to fire governor Lisa Cook—the first time any president has tried to remove a Fed official in the central bank's 112-year history. The case is about far more than one official's job. It could determine whether a president can remake the Fed's board at will. wsj.com/economy/centra… • The court's conservative majority spent years gradually eroding the independence of regulatory agencies. Now they must decide whether to make an exception for the Fed. • Fed independence has rested on three guardrails: the courts, the Senate, and the markets. So far, markets have barely reacted. Senate Republicans have shown little appetite to confront Trump. "If Cook loses, then I do not have confidence in these other guardrails," said Penn historian Peter Conti-Brown. "This is the one that will create real barriers." • At its core, the case is about who controls the money supply. "This debate has been going on in the United States since before we had the United States," said Gary Richardson, the Fed's former historian. "This case is designed to give the Supreme Court a chance to change who decides monetary policy."
