We are now at level 3 for about the Western 2/3rds of our area. That is the enhanced risk for severe weather. We remain Weather Alert for late tonight, likely from around midnight to 6 am ET from West to East. Storm are likely to be strong or even severe.

NWS Storm Prediction Center
Here at the Storm Prediction Center, we dig deep into the data to do the best possible analysis of the storm threat. Even in 2026, this sometimes involves putting pencil to paper to do hand surface analysis. This is what the morning map looks like today.

Sunday tornado and damaging wind threats. Are you in the highlighted areas? Later today if a watch gets issued make sure you know where you’ll go to shelter. If a warning gets issued, it’s happening, get in that shelter! @kyledavidwx

Al Hendrix and his 3 year old son, Jimi Hendrix, 1945. Because Al was serving in the US Army during World War II, he did not actually meet his son until he was honorably discharged in 1945. At the time of this photo, the toddlers name was actually Johnny Allen Hendrix. The following year, Al officially changed his sons name to James Marshall Hendrix.
