"I think it's irresponsible and ludicrous frankly." Brian Feeney wrote in the Irish news recently saying Stormont's time is up, does he have a point? @MarkCarruthers7 asks @ClaireHanna

I think we in northern Ireland should really consider banning drivers from the Republic of Ireland driving here. They can’t bloody drive. They don’t know how the dual carriage way works. Slip roads etc

@Choyaa13 @g2mcc In a good way but. Rather Allen just giving an honest opinion and not afraid to give it back it. The less of this robotic media trained nonsense we get in modern sports

@Leesydarts That’s the problem with all these Chinese. Especially when you have a world champion who has been suspended. Should have gotten a life ban.

@charlie51135881 @Pat1975Watty @fiachramcg I'm not one for the old bum fun but I'd rather engage in a bit of arse shagging than starve myself to death in a shit smeared cell in order to help British agents buy holiday homes in Donegal.

Bobby Sands was extraordinary, a leader in very difficult times, and also a visionary. Everything the SDLP are not.

I love when I talk about the film You, Me and Marley to English people and they auto think I mean Marley and Me the golden lab but it’s actually a film set in the troubles about West Belfast joyriders

@belfastbhoy1961 @lawrenson_40883 @kulture_watch Well no. Terror groups like the IRA are defined in law and listed as proscribed groups by EU and individual countries etc. It isn't for ghouls like you to determine what is or is not a terrorist

Be embarrassing if a DUP MLA stood like a gormless moron for a selfie in front of a unionist terrorist shrine put up with no planning permission 🤫

@dolfingray @sbunting_ @duponline If been there 5 years they are exempt from any objections/ removals. Probably better just to be happy that politicians aren't being allowed to do what they want when they want.

@sbunting_ @duponline Let’s apply that retrospectively to the many unauthorised statues and memorial on both sides. I’m sure there’s plenty of those in loyalist areas that could do with a review. You have to be consistent otherwise it’s just a stunt.

DUP Statement This evening, Belfast City Council passed a DUP motion, condemning the unauthorised erection of the Bobby Sands statue on public land and calling for full transparency and a review of the decision not to take enforcement action. We all must be equal under the law and equally subject to the law. Sinn Fein representatives, alongside First Minister Michelle O’Neill, unveiled the memorial to Hunger Striker Bobby Sands, despite it being erected without planning permission, and this evening argued against enforcement action being taken. The motion was about a memorial and whether planning law is applied equally and without exception. It can’t be one rule for republicans and another rule for small business owners. Attempts to deflect and shut down debate were made tonight but they failed, Council has now set a clear expectation for transparency and accountability.

@timcairns Interestingly in his early acceptances of ministries Martin McGuinness said "Northern Ireland". SF ministers saying "NI" in that situation is more recent. SDLP leaders (apart from Seamus Mallon) historically pretty much always said the full name. Matthew is letting himself down

An etymology/evolution of the term “the North” in NI politics would be interesting. Unionists were comfortable with and used the term “the North” as recently as the 1980s. This seems to be a post Belfast Agreement row. The problem seems to start when SF ministers refused to use Northern Ireland. I don’t know, maybe it would be best to just ignore them and get on with it? We were once comfortable with the term and the distinction, maybe reclaim the word?
Matthew O'Toole@MatthewOToole2

If there is anything more tedious than people who refuse to say Northern Ireland it is grown adults who spend their days policing the Internet for when someone happens to say the north.
