@adamfare1996 If someone is genuinely unfit to work, they fight against it because they struggle to accept new limitations. They dont need anyone to "rub in" or try to discredit their current life reality

Ambulance staff are taught to be brutally honest when giving bad news and today, I have saddest news that Defib has died. You have no idea what it meant for him to stay home with the people that loved him. Thank you all for your support when he needed it.

@mavisblyth @savedefib @hines_stephen Mavis if you've had a safe life we're plsed for u The reality is our ambulance crews deal with decapitations, limb removal, heart attacks, stab victims other traumas as a matter of daily routine, but it shouldnt be the norm. Defib made positive difference

@domdyer70 We adopted a cat who was kicked out of a Nursing home when a new Matron arrived. Residents loved him but snotty cow said he was a health hazard. We had him for 23yrs loved his life on our farm in Wales, died in front of the Aga. RIP Defib 🐾🐈‍⬛🌈💔

A beloved cat whose potential eviction from Walthamstow Ambulance Station sparked city-wide outrage in 2024 has died. Defib was days away from being forced out after 16 years when a change of management deemed him an infection and allergy risk. Over 60,000 people signed a petition demanding the feline stay put, forcing former London Ambulance Service boss Daniel Elkeles to step in. Announcing the sad news on social media yesterday, paramedic Stephen Hines said: “You have no idea what it meant for him to stay home with the people that loved him. Thank you all for your support when he needed it.” RIP Defib 💔

@savedefib Defib had an amazing charisma, was very cheeky crossing the road and knew how to make friends. An amazing therapy cat but it worked both ways too. Not every cat receives the love Defib experienced

Thank you very much for your kind words. I just need to clarify that Defib was very old and clearly showing signs that he was near the end for a while before he passed. No conspiracy. No management changes have anything to do with him or vice versa. He died where he belonged.

@domdyer70 Why can't these people let a stray cat live his own life? He may be a feline, but he has the right to live on Earth too. Shame on Walthamstow Ambulance Station! I wish someone had adopted him. 😭

@Number10cat Thank you so very much @Number10cat for acknowledging Defibs demise. You saw first hand the amazing support when Defib aged. Please do use your feline influence to promote cat/dog therapy across our emergency services. On behalf of Gail Penfold, Robert Burns Humanitarian
