The best solution, in my opinion： 1. The first leg should be declared void and awarded as a 3–0 result, meaning Middlesbrough would progress to the final 4–2 on aggregate. 2. Southampton should start next season with a points deduction and receive a financial penalty. 3. Southampton manager Tonda Eckert and analyst William Salt should receive a one-year ban from football activities.
