@liamwils9 I’ve found overnight temperature forecasts have been all over the place of late. Temp for the night milder than I was expecting.

Overnight snow followed by sun and blue sky made for a sensational day of light and shadow on the heights above Loch Brandy and Loch Wharral in Glen Clova. See full picture album at Facebook.com/munromoonwalker #wintermountains #scotland #angusglens

@KevEd2022 Nice idea to cut down the snow to create height.

@StrachanHazel That looks superb! We set up in Coire an t-Sneachda on Friday night. Wish my legs could carry me further.

Friday into Saturday bivvy above 2500ft on Sgairneach Mhor. The temps at Dalwhinnie dropped to -9C. The night sky was so beautiful. The sun crept over the horizon to herald a phenomenal day.

@ChezBruce Thanks! I managed to remove one jacket by the second summit.
English
@ChezBruce Thanks. It’s been a while since the conditions have been good for a bivvy.

@howe13_13 Yes, it’s that area. I’ve never been into the inn - gets great reviews.

08.02.2026 A smirry kind of a day. A clear summit in the morning, #GlenElgbrochs and a visit to Gavin Maxwell’s #Camusfearna where he wrote the wonderful ‘Ring of Bright Water’ (a favourite book when I was growing up) - such a beautiful location.

@CasegFraith Thank you for the translations.
I remember these two mountains (from their name) on an OS map came up in ‘O’ Grade geography. I had always wanted to climb them to find out what they were like. Today was my second ascent.

@StrachanHazel Looks amazing!
Beinn nan Caorach - Mountain of the Sheep
Beinn na h-Eaglaise - Mountain of the Church
#MountainToponymy
I guessed the second one, but I had to check it on Google!

@SirHectorMunro I’ve been enjoying the good weather on the west.Grey with light rain today, Sunday - just like the rest of Scotland.
English

@StrachanHazel Awesome scenery - and some blue skies thrown in as well.

@StrachanHazel Hazel, I know the welcome would be warm, however our overseas travel days are over, we are just too far away from everywhere, too much hassle. So we enjoy posts like yours that take us to beautiful places we haven’t seen. So thank you for sharing your amazing country.
English
@JocelynBR2 Thank you for your lovely comment Jocelyn. Please come back - we may not be able to guarantee the weather but you’ll get a warm welcome.

@StrachanHazel We have only been to Scotland once, back in 2004. We fell in love with the people and the countryside. Unique. 😊
English
@RKsDRSolutns So many wonderful places to visit. I’m enjoying the weather as it’s been so grey at home.
