My biggest pet peeve is when someone gives advice about audio, AND IT'S WRONG ahh With a degree in Post Production (editing) and 10 years working in the industry for tv, my advice is... Audio Mixer OBS: Voice: -5db (THE RED ZONE IS GOOD, never get to 0) Game: between -20db & -15db (Yellow) Music: between -45db & -35db (Low Green) People saying never to put audio in the red zone are flat out wrong. You want to avoid distortion, which is when it peaks at 0 and above, but your voice should be louder than the game. Hope this helps!

Be careful with trusting all these new StreamElements alternatives popping up. Some of them are okay with AI and don't have a clear stance on it. Also, I watched them basically bombard a VTuber in her replies after she very clearly told them she wasn't interested in their service. They ignored her responses and kept promoting their product. Kinda icky that they can't seem to take no for an answer. 🤷🏽‍♀️

@Fugiman Discovering so many new devs through this news. This wake-up call is good, but it's also a reminder we need to share what we are working a lot more.

I feel for streamers and artists who rely on StreamElements and are finding out they need to move everything with no warning. As a humble plug, I have been helping make EKG.gg for the past year as an alternative overlay & alert system with a built-in marketplace

@KevBondzio Only take that makes sense. For them to accomplish this they need all 2m active users to pay $10 a month. When they asked for support to keep it free they made around $6k in 4 months. Creators are now asking for them to charge but it seems too late and about $199,994,000 short.

Streamelements raised $100M from venture capital in 2019. The investors are gonna expect you to make north of $200,000,000 in revenue - YEARLY. A creator tool can’t even come close to that, given it has free alternatives. The economics just don’t add up. So it’s all in all sponsorships on Twitch and YouTube. With investors having board seats, every decision gets filtered through one question: does this get us to a billion-dollar exit? A small fee on donations doesn’t. It adds maybe a few million in revenue while annoying the creators you need for the real play — owning ad inventory and sponsorship deals across Twitch/YouTube. The creator tool was never the business. It was the funnel. Once sponsorship economics stopped working, nobody in the boardroom had a reason to save it. Saving it would’ve meant admitting the original thesis was wrong. So they didn’t. This matches what @zachbussey reported yesterday.

The StreamElements situation is very confusing to me. If the financials are so bad that they're now on the brink of shutting down, why didn't they start taking a small percentage from donations years ago? It's a totally reasonable exchange considering everything else about the platform is free. Sure, they would have lost some of their users, but that's better than losing 100% of them.

@Jaku @KevBondzio Now I wonder why they even attempted that donation page. It just returned the same answer; people aren't converting to paid users..

@AngoraZailia I will bet they are getting acquired by @TheOverwolf - it's from the same country, has seen tremendous growth in ad revenue, and supports a lot of developers already.

So it's pretty much confirmed StreamElements is shutting down as soon as the end of May 🥲 Thankfully, I've long moved off to MixItUp for my bot and Twitch for my alerts, but some of my widgets and overlays are SE only. I feel so bad for all the widget creators 😭

RE: StreamElements The value of something you use for free becomes apparent very quickly when it's about to be taken away. Think about all the tools you use that were free to download and use. That software doesn't maintain itself.

StreamElements MIGHT be shutting down. Not 100% confirmed, but the rumor mill is pumping. Be prepared! Alerts/Stream management alternatives: - StreamLabs - Lumia Stream - BotRix - Meld Studio - Streamer .bot - Caster Labs - Aitum - Mix it Up What are you currently using?

RE: StreamElements To get everyone on the same page, here's a breakdown on what's happening, because rumors always travel further and faster in a vacuum. Earlier today, there was an initial rumor that StreamElements was laying off all staff and shutting down. I heard this secondhand from a trusted source, but, like any rumor, it was not confirmed; it was merely a starting point. (I personally require at least two independent sources to confirm a story, as individuals can make mistakes or misinterpret the facts, especially if there's a reason that might make it personal.) Since then, this single source has repeated this story to everyone in his StreamElements Sponsorship Discord (not the official one), and as such, it has been shared as a rumor widely across streamer Twitter. Yes, he does work for StreamElements as a Creator Success Manager. So, he does have credibility. At the same time, I have attempted to get secondary confirmation from anyone at StreamElements - but have been unable to. Every person I have spoken to about this (creators, former SE staff, media people) has the same source... the person mentioned above. Now that said, let's talk contributing factors: 1. StreamElements continues to be silent on the matter. 2. They have been slow to pay users in recent weeks. 3. They seem to have been removed from Twitch's Third Party sponsorship offers. 4. They have been soliciting donations to keep the service free. 5. They have had numerous layoffs over the last few years, and more have left of their own volition in the last few months. On the other hand, it's unusual to simply shut down a service with hundreds of thousands of users without first becoming a paid service. Or maybe just shutting down part of the service and focusing wholly on the sponsorship side. Either way, it's unusual. This entire thing is unusual. And while the rumors may end up being true, I don't feel confident saying that yet. As I said, my standard is at least two independent confirmations - more is better. I always prefer being right to being first. That said, given the situation as presented, it may still be worthwhile to ensure any SEPay money is requested, and you may want to download your alerts (or move to an alternative, such as Streamlabs. Disclosure: I have a partnership with them - but an easy link to do so is attached below.) If I learn more before StreamElements addresses it publicly themselves, I will share whatever facts I can confirm.

Australian startup UpScrolled has been attracting users globally over the past few weeks. It offers an Instagram-meets-TikTok experience but prioritizes authentic connection over algorithms. It is currently the #2 in the US, #2 in the UK, and #3 in the Australian App Stores.

Personal opinion: But that subreddit devolved into just being whoever the most hated political person of the day is. Maybe this turns the page on the failures of what that place became... Doubtful, but maybe.

Million Dollar Fan @MDFRealityShow, a show promoted by Livestream Fail along with several creators from @MythicTalent, has seemingly deleted their Discord, closed their Twitter account, and had the LSF mod delete the promotion. This, after one of the creators involved, ExtraEmily, claimed she had no idea what she was promoting, and did zero research into it. Many had asked her whether this was a scam. The rapid deletion of everything feels like there may indeed have been something nefarious going on here.

Once again, @KrasmiTheDragon has been caught stealing my Streamerbot Starter Pack and reuploading it as their own. To their credit, they at least made an attempt to rewrite some of the commands (poorly), but it is clear that some of my code has still not been unaltered.
