He knew the potential difference in pricing due to grades as he references in his post. Just a greedy attempt to inflate the value of a card thats already massive.

🧵In early February, I submitted two defective cards to @Topps for a defect claim. Combined estimated value: $90,000 to $300,000+. It has now been almost 4 months. Today, I received news that should concern every collector in this hobby. @CardPurchaser

Every hobby box topps releases now on premium stock goes over 1k within the first few months. If you fo not see the flaws, you never will.

Huge cards have always existed, you can blame Topps for marketing up their product because they can (smart business), you can’t blame it on the consumer for wanting non-damaged cards. Submitting because of a print line is ridiculous. The owner of this card knew this and submitted because of the price discrepancy if this grades a 10.

@gilesbraves @bink_cards @Topps @CardPurchaser Shouldn't be considered an asset. This is part of the reason the hobby is in such a poor spot. You can be upset as you like about how I feel about this situation. The post engagement between the parent tweet and my initial reply shows that many other share the same sentiment.

You can disagree with the word all you want – doesn’t change the fact of the matter that it’s a high-end asset. People are way too comfortable rooting for others’ downfall, out of jealousy I assume. Why would anybody laugh or be glad somebody is getting burned? Super, super weird behavior.

@gilesbraves @bink_cards @Topps @CardPurchaser The use of the word "assets" is enough to validate my statement. Fundamentally, these are trading cards, not stocks. Guy wasn't happy enough owning an $80k card... had to try and stretch it for as much as possible and got burned.

@StrikerRips @bink_cards @Topps @CardPurchaser Terrible take. Neither card would grade 8 or higher, which is Topps’ condition guarantee. ESPECIALLY on huge cards like this, that guarantee should be the expectation and they should prioritize the customer on such massive assets.
