Python is also great first programming language, for the same reasons JavaScript is a good choice. We include both Python and JavaScript courses in our curriculum. If you would like to easily teach code to middle school and older students, check out Studioweb.com

JavaScript is a great first programming language to teach because 1. There is nothing to install … all you need is a web browser. 2. It is lightweight, and can easily be used to create games, drawings and animations. 3. It is the most widely used language … so it’s vocational.
