@FrTotleben92742 The irony here of course is that so many of these changes were ostensibly made in an effort to undo centuries of clericalist oppression.

So… this actually reminds me of when I was morbidly obsessed with Nazis and watched a playlist of Nazi-era German songs on Youtube in chronological order. It was the weirdest thing… the early ones, from the ‘30s, sound like regular ‘30s music. The later ones, from the ‘40s… also sound like ‘30s music. Total stagnation. Also weird, the later ones, from when they were losing the war, got happier and happier, like they were getting increasingly manic and insane as they tried to keep propping up their fake, crumbling utopia with this fabricated, dead, forcibly-happy culture… So the lesson I took is that if you see stagnation, there is a) top-down control of culture and b) civilizational death. That’s what I see here in the digital realm. We could create all kinds of fantastically cool online spaces, and instead what we have is centrally-managed cookie-cutter stagnation with all the soul and hope sucked out of it and nowhere to run. I still remember when the official Star Wars website had this very cool navigation menu where you’d click on a planet to visit part of the website, and they would rotate as you moused from one to the other. That was probably back in 2006-7. It is now late 2025, and our online spaces are, frankly, trash. Especially with the advent of AI and most people now having reliable high-speed internet, there are really no excuses for not having cool, dynamic, immersive, and inspiring online spaces.

@Mike_Sharpe_ My advice: study Aquinas! He’ll challenge you without ever sucking your soul. Then, if you want to tackle the moderns, you’ll have a sharp sword to bring with you. That, and never stray far from Christ.

The first recorded casualty on the morning of 9/11 was Roman Catholic Priest and NYFD Chaplain Father Mychal Judge. He was witnessed calling upon the Holy Spirit and absolving people as they fell to their death.
