Wes Streeting's audition for PM must offer something more than the same failed red lines as Keir Starmer. We can’t solve the cost of living crisis without repairing the damage done by the Conservative's botched Brexit deal. Starting by negotiating a customs union with the EU.

I think the PM is a voice of reason and sense, however I wish he had dealt with the BBC and been bolder in EU membership.

The foreign owned UK newspapers and the BBC want to get rid of the British Prime Minister. And if they succeed they will attack whoever replaces him. These foreign billionaires want the billionaire place man, Farage, to control the country for them.

They think they can do what they like without a mandate. The problem isn't Starmer. It's Labour.

Speaking at Progress conference, Wes Streeting is scathing about the government he has just left. “We then had a dishonest leadership contest, followed by an overcautiousness in opposition. Interesting policy ideas couldn't be floated because we were too afraid of what the Tories might say, so we said nothing. Instead of a willingness to challenge ideas and kick the tyres, debate was viewed as division and shut down. As a result, we arrived in government underprepared in too many areas and lacking clarity of vision and direction.”

If @wesstreeting @AndyBurnhamGM were giving these speeches/talking to the media in 2029 following an election defeat you could accept it and indeed expect it. But they’ve jumped the gun by THREE YEARS. I for one will never vote for them.

Streeting publicly announced he will join any leadership race, also tells Progress: "Britain's future lies with Europe & one day, back in the European Union." Burnham had already hinted in that direction during Labour conference … but he is trying to win over and represent a top 100 2016 Leave constituency… Interesting dynamic.

Barnham is going to lose this by election. The numbers do stack up, but more importantly electors who voted for Keir Starmer and his manifesto are now signing up as Labour members in their thousands. That shift matters, because it shows a move away from passive support towards active participation. Those voters are not simply waiting for outcomes, they are choosing to influence the direction of the party from within, particularly on the question of building a closer relationship with Europe. It changes the dynamic of the contest entirely. What may have looked settled on paper begins to look far less certain when there is clear evidence of organised engagement at this level. So if you want to be involved, and you want to ensure that Keir Starmer remains as Labour leader and Prime Minister through to 2029, then participation is essential. Joining the Labour Party gives you that voice. Membership starts at around fifty pounds a year, with reduced rates of roughly two pounds a month available for those who are retired or meet the relevant criteria. If you feel that strongly, take part, have your say, and send a clear message to the Parliamentary Labour Party to get on with the job, stop the internal manoeuvring, and unite behind the leadership: Join the Labour Party.

Thoughts A bee lives for 4 to 6 weeks, during this time it produces no more than 1 teaspoon of honey. To do this, it has to fly to up to 3,000 flowers a day and cover around 800 km during its entire life. Just a teaspoon of honey for us, but a whole lifetime for the bee💚🐝💚
