We’ve spent our whole lives looking up at the Moon as this beautiful, distant silver coin in the sky. But now, our friends on Artemis II are out there seeing it as it truly is. We weren’t wired for views like this and yet here we are. This isn’t just a mission. This is one of the most awe-inspiring moments in human history!

@iamopele As far as I understand Lambda-CDM, all worldlines in the universe converge at the Big Bang. So, even if there were events before it, nothing from them could ever affect us (they are causaly disconnected).

The big bang is the earliest point of the universe that expansion started. It is not the absolute beginning. It is the earliest point where our understanding and physics can measure and calculate. It is not the beginning. We don't know whether the universe has a beginning or not

@shanksteroflove Honestly, seeing this made me hopeful that we *will* see humans on the Moon by end of the decade. Like, I knew that was the plan. But until now I thought that just wishful thinking.

Artemis 2 may be coming to an end soon but Blue Moon MK1 will land on the Moon in a few months. It is the largest lunar lander ever built.

This one really gets me. 📷❤️ Not just because of the view, though obviously... come on. Earth hanging above the lunar surface is the kind of perspective that makes you stop for a second and just take it in. But as a photographer, I love the composition here too. The balance, the spacing, the way the Moon fills the frame without overpowering it, and then that small, bright Earth suspended in all that negative space. It feels simple at first, then the longer you look, the more it pulls you in. And that’s the part I can’t shake. This is real. This is a human view now. I really hope we get more images like this from Artemis II, and if I’m being extra nerdy, I’d love to see the RAW files one day too. Photographers can dream, right? I’d love to see just how much more detail is hiding in frames like this. Mostly though, I hope this is a glimpse of what more people get to experience in the future. Because if one image can make Earth feel this beautiful, this distant, and this fragile all at once, imagine what it must feel like to see it with your own eyes. 👀 hoto credit: NASA ,

@Yuva1s @erikkuna @SuperclusterHQ @NASAArtemis @KelbyOne It doesn't, not at the same time. You can't view (nor capture) that background with the Moon and Earth being that bright on the foreground, at the same time. You could take the pictures separately and then combine them in post.

@_TommyMason They did, but also Christina said that she’s been into astrophotography for a long time. Astronauts really seem to just be near perfect examples who excel at every part of being human

Crazy to think that this was taken with a regular DSLR and is sitting on one of the astronauts' camera roll. On a normal memory card. Not some special exterior mounted NASA camera. They just pointed the lens out the window and snapped this. Makes it even more real somehow.
