Padre Angus Smith, whose steady soul guided 2nd Battalion Scots Guards through Falklands Campaign of 1982, died yesterday, in his sleep. He was, quite simply, remarkable, spiritually practical and a gargantuan friend. God bless him & grant eternal rest. @churchscotland @scots_guards @ArmyChaplaincy

The King invested me as a Companion of the Order of the Bath today, in Windsor Castle. My Grandfather was invested as a Companion in 1949, by King George VI

Last night my Mum, Vernon, died peacefully at home in bed, ending a remarkable life, aged 96 4 children, 11 grandchildren & 14 great grandchildren can imagine her back with Daddy starting their eternal marriage, much as they did in Malta GC in 1951 Rejoice, be happy & thankful!

Our beloved Maxwell has gone to sleep forever. He was nearly 16. We were all there and he felt our touch and love as he slipped away. Right now as a family we feel broken but we were so lucky to have found him in this universe. He was a gentle, sweet and special soul and he will be with us forever. He changed all our lives. He gave us so much love. He loved me more than I could possibly deserve. Rest well my beautiful beautiful boy. x

In the Falkland Islands I paid my respects to all those who lost their lives during the conflict in 1982. We will never forget the incredible service of British forces. We will always support the Falkland Islanders’ rights, and their work to sustain the prosperous modern community here.

My grandmother, Heather Hill, died the night before Labour conference on 6th October - after 10 years of life-extending cancer treatment. I’m out of action today for her funeral. I’m so grateful to have enjoyed nearly 41 years of her unconditional love and support.
