@ctjlewis That being said, I am excited about the potential for creativity that friendlier abstractions lead to. Lord knows there’s a shortage. I bet this guy could come up with some wicked stuff: henry.codes

@ctjlewis I think his tool is a really nice abstraction that I want to look into for virtualization on ridiculously form-heavy pages. I’m excited about that — but I don’t think many people really get it outside of those short demos.

@t3nable Kind of an ironic brand name to be getting so worn out after only a year. Either that or you gave this poor bastard a hot supper 😂

My dear front-end developers (and anyone who’s interested in the future of interfaces): I have crawled through depths of hell to bring you, for the foreseeable years, one of the more important foundational pieces of UI engineering (if not in implementation then certainly at least in concept): Fast, accurate and comprehensive userland text measurement algorithm in pure TypeScript, usable for laying out entire web pages without CSS, bypassing DOM measurements and reflow

@anaisbetts I remember those days well! My team and I were suffering through the seven layers of ClickOnce hell at the time and even explored doing a squirrel-esque thing of our own, but your solution was so elegant and thoughtful. Thanks again for all the hard work!

@SullyHickory It took me like three tries to finally get a version that worked! The abandoned one was at github.com/Squirrel/OldSq…, had a C# plugin model and it was insanely fragile, just Didn't Work for real apps

Cause I named it that 10+ years ago in Squirrel, then I fixed it so you didn't need to, but Discord forked Squirrel from day one then never updated it

@mushroomfromgd Why in god's holy name is discord's exe called update.exe

@iAmBipinPaul @jhigh2000 @nickchapsas It is but as a brand it has been severely diluted due to how Copilot has been stamped on everything of questionable value or quality.

The way Microsoft managed to make the word CoPilot completely meaningless needs to be studied

@shuding @v0 @OxcProject Curious. Assuming you use Tailwind, how do you cope without Tailwind Prettier sorting your classNames? Honestly that’s the only thing keeping me from switching to tools like Biome and similar.

We migrated @v0’s codebase from ESLint + Prettier to Oxlint + Oxfmt by @oxcproject, CI is now 3x faster. Love the OSS ecosystem.

NO THIS IS HORRIBLE. Importing Argentine beef to combat high us prices is attacking the supply problem by killing the solution. US cattle herds are at 70 year lows. Ranchers are finally profitable because supply is tight. That price signal is supposed to trigger herd rebuilding. Flood the market with 80,000 metric tons of imports and you suppress wholesale cattle prices, which gets passed back to ranchers as lower payments from packers. But retail beef prices barely move because packers and retailers capture the spread. Ranchers are price takers with zero control over grocery store prices. The National Cattlemen's Beef Association is right that this won't meaningfully impact what consumers pay. Argentina produces 5% of global beef supply and doesn't have the volume to move the needle on U.S. consumption. What it does accomplish is removing the economic incentive to rebuild domestic herds before that rebuilding happens. If ranchers can't make money when cattle inventory is at a 70 year low and beef prices are at 40 year highs, the message is clear: the market won't reward domestic production even under the most favorable conditions in generations. That accelerates exits, consolidation, and permanent capacity loss. You're solving a temporary supply shortage by making sure the structural supply problem gets worse.

BREAKING: President Trump has just signed an Executive Order that quadruples beef imports into the United States from Argentina. This is HUGE!
