The Gaffer arrives not with hype, but with steel. Alec Stewart wasn’t a teenage prodigy or overnight sensation. He debuted late, just shy of 27, and still carved out a monumental Test career spanning 133 matches, a testament to durability, discipline, and sheer grit. What makes Stewart’s numbers even more compelling is the context behind them. When burdened with wicketkeeping duties, he still averaged a respectable 35. But when freed to focus solely on batting, he transformed, his average soaring to an elite 46, revealing the true extent of his class. Leadership came naturally, if not fashionably. As captain, he guided England to a landmark triumph, their first victory in a five-Test series in over a decade, against South Africa in 1998. Yet his no-nonsense, almost military style didn’t sit well in an era drifting toward modernity. By the time of the 1999 World Cup, criticism grew louder, and his methods were labelled outdated. Still, Stewart endured much like his batting. Through scrutiny and calls for change, he remained a pillar of the side, holding his place until bowing out in 2003 after the South Africa series. Not flashy. Not flamboyant. Just relentlessly effective, the kind of cricketer teams are built on. Happy Birthday, Alec Stewart. 🎂 Born 8-4-93, scored exactly 8493 test runs🫡 Pic Courtesy: MemoryLane

Meet Nitin Gupta ! (IIT-JEE Rank 1, Neuroscientist & Researcher from India) Exploring how the brain turns signals into behavior from smell to decision-making. > Topped IIT-JEE in 2000 and joined IIT Kanpur > Graduated with a BTech degree in Computer Science, with a growing interest in biology > Pursued a PhD in Bioinformatics & Systems Biology at University of California San Diego > Where he Worked in cognitive neuroscience > Then he moved to National Institutes of Health for postdoctoral research in electrophysiology > After Postdoc he returned to India and Joined IIT Kanpur as a faculty member in 2014 Today, he is working at the intersection of neuroscience, behavior, and computation > Studies how neural circuits encode behaviors like attraction and repulsion > Uses insect olfactory systems to understand how brains process smells > Examines how mosquitoes respond to human odors vs repellents > Research which will help to uncover fundamental working principles of brain Beyond core research, he is also building solutions for real-world impact > Developed TreadWill, a digital cognitive behavioral therapy tool for depression > Working on scalable mental health interventions using technology His work bridges computer science, biology, and neuroscience, decoding how simple neural signals give rise to complex behavior.

@narendramodi Mudras have many purposes, some good and some bad. Our Mudras are replete with paper work, bureaucratic inefficiency, laced with corruption! We are losing that battle daily - ineptitude, no decisiveness, lack of real impact of these 100 Yojnas and Mudras! It's tax payer money 😡.

A major milestone in India's civil nuclear journey and a proud moment for all Indians! As the indigenously designed and built Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor at Kalpakkam attains criticality, we are witnessing a significant step towards tapping India's massive thorium reserves and advancing long-term energy security. This achievement reflects our engineering excellence and will further strengthen our scientific endeavours. Congratulations to all the scientists and engineers behind this outstanding accomplishment!

A decade ago, our economy was one of the "Fragile Five." We began the second quarter of the 21st century as the fastest-growing major economy in the world. We began with a fiscal deficit on an unsustainable trajectory. We have brought it to 4.4% of GDP, en route towards 50% debt-to-GDP by 2030-31. We began with a tax system built on suspicion. We have created one premised on trust. We moved the budget date. We introduced quarterly limits. We built the TSA and the PFMS ecosystem. We decriminalized commerce. We made tax assessment faceless. We created an inflation targeting framework and the institutional independence that makes it credible. These are not small achievements. They are the cumulative result of thousands of decisions by the collective wisdom of people and leadership who chose the harder, more principled path when the easier one was always available. - Smt @nsitharaman in New Delhi (1/n)

Today I Learned: Till April 2025, Bhavish Aggarwal’s @bhash Ola Group had filed ~650 patents. To put that in context, all 117 Indian unicorns combinedly hold ~229 patents & out of that ~180 belong to Ola alone.
