Inaugurated Academic Block–A of Arunachal Pradesh University, Pasighat today. This new academic infrastructure is a major step in our continuous effort to strengthen the education ecosystem of the state and create better opportunities for our youth. Pasighat, known as the gateway of Arunachal, is steadily emerging as an important educational hub, and this development further reinforces that vision. My best wishes to the university fraternity and students for a bright and successful academic journey ahead.

Delighted to hear about Dr Prem Taba’s achievement in being invited to present at the International Conference on Advances in Educational Research, Humanities, and Social Sciences (ICAERHS 2026) in Madrid, Spain. His paper, “Spirits of the Forest: Uyu-Based Knowledge Systems and Shifting Ecologies in Nyishi Cosmology,” is a remarkable contribution that takes the wisdom of our indigenous traditions to the global stage. Wishing him the very best as he shares the Nyishi worldview and its ecological depth with the world.

news for you@TeamNewsfy

Arunachal Pradesh researcher Dr. Prem Taba has earned international recognition, with an invitation to speak at the prestigious International Conference on Advances in Educational Research, Humanities, and Social Sciences (ICAERHS 2026) in Madrid, Spain, scheduled from May 4 to 8 next year. Dr Taba, who holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from Rajiv Gandhi University, will present his paper titled “Spirits of the Forest: Uyu-Based Knowledge Systems and Shifting Ecologies in Nyishi Cosmology.” His work delves into the intricate human-forest relationship of the Nyishi tribe, focusing on the role of uyu—spiritual entities believed to guide ecological balance. Explaining his research, Taba said, “The Nyishi cosmology offers an ethical framework where practices like jhum cultivation and hunting are not just survival strategies but forms of exchange with the uyu, reflecting deep-rooted ecological wisdom.” He added that benevolent and malevolent uyu, particularly the central figure of Dohjung uyu, shape how communities perceive forest use and conservation. His paper also documents the rapid transformations sweeping across the Nyishi highlands, with migration, economic changes and Christianization altering traditional knowledge systems. “These shifts bring both challenges and opportunities for sustaining indigenous ecological practices in a modern context,” Taba said. ICAERHS is recognized as a premier multidisciplinary platform, bringing together eminent scholars in sociology, anthropology, politics, philosophy, psychology, history and education. #ArunachalPradesh

Had a wonderful interaction with the remarkable young folks from Youth Mission for Clean River – Arunachal Pradesh. These are bright, highly qualified driven individuals coming together not for credit or applause, but because they believe in something bigger than themselves. They’re out there cleaning rivers, planting trees, educating communities, and even pushing for policy changes. All to protect the lifeblood of our land, the rivers of Arunachal. They’re not waiting for change, they are the change. I’m proud to support their mission. Let’s back them up. And together, let’s bring our rivers back to life.
