So here are my terms and conditions: The moment I post my opinion under my real name, I am a public figure = politēs (ancient Greek pólis) = city-state; hence politēs = politician. Let's say twice their 'salary' and a permit to conceal carry a pewpew.

Well, you need to give them a view of the landscape once in a while. It's precious for a healthy psyche, and it reminds them there's nothing worth running off to. Just in case this doesn't do the trick, they'll have Tony Hinchcliffe to roast the last drop of self-esteem out of them.

It seems pretty moronic to believe Elon Musk is going to spend all that money and time in order to build a nice, green and cozy colony on Mars. Imagine him and his buddies from the upper class sitting under an oxygenated polycarbonate dome, red wasteland as far as they can see, one impact by a tiny grain of a meteorite away from death by suffocation. At this point it should be clear that Mars will serve as a planet to dispose of our waste and as a prison colony for all the personae non gratae. No comfort, no human rights but forced labour, mining the ores for a feudalistic life on Mother Earth. Earth will look like paradise again; for the chosen few, surrounded by robotic and brain-chipped humans as obedient servants.

Big-ass dome for the plebs, multiple kilometers in diameter? Yes, that would take weeks or months to reach equilibrium. I was picturing more of a private luxury dome; a cute domed community. But let's be honest, the view would still suck when you can have waterfalls and lakeside mansions.
