I'm 46. I started playing hockey when I was 4. I (somehow) have a HockeyDB & eliteprospects page (lol). Been talking shit on this app about hockey for 16 years. Have gotten phone calls from Oilers employees for the better part of the last decade. I think I know a thing or 2 😉

I would do an in depth dive on Laf as a target but I don’t have the time at present. Perhaps in the near future I will. Or someone on here can do the deep dive and Substack it or equivalent.

Would NYR be interested in Nurse? Would they trade Laf? Would Nurse waive? I think these are all bigger questions than is Laf a good addition. I can see a yes to all of the above. Drury and NYR all do a lot of questionable moves. Nurse does hold value in the league.

For some reason Lafreniere isn’t a big target for many. That’s fine. I see opportunity there. He has decent size and a decent game. He has took awhile to “arrive”. I would say that fully hasn’t happened. The floor in terms of risk is really high. He also has a high ceiling.

Step 1 of a good offseason was removing Knoblauch. Another good step this offseason will be moving on from Nurse. Nurse for Lafreniere would be my target.

@akaRCN It’s always a moving target. Hiller was owning Knoblauch in the first round until he self destructed and then couldn’t coach his way out of a wet paper bag. Coaches are about as voodoo as goalies it seems.

The Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky, and Hutson contracts are going to be looked at as some of the absolute best in the entire league, if they aren't already. A 50-goal scorer, under $8M until 2031. A 100-point (soon) scorer, under $8M until 2030 A 30-goal, 70+ point winger, 21 years old and still growing, under $8M until 2033 A potential point-per-game defenceman, calder winner, under $9M until 2024. Absolutely insane business by the Habs.

@EricJFriesen That’s a tough one to try and gauge just based on Rangers themselves. They likely want young talent, they likely want muscle as they usually do. So I would think Howard and Pod are on their list.
