@TimMarcus22 It's the mentality of players these days. They want to smash it and entertain when being boring would have done the job. But probably today's paying customers wouldn't enjoy being bored by a Boycott or Tavare. And the authorities want punters. So we lose instead.

@SurreySptClive I think anyone who follows Surrey will tell you Roy is not a red ball opener. Bring in Sibley, drop Roy down to four, give the gloves to Foakes and drop Denly along with either Bairstow or Buttler. And maybe bringing Sam Curran in for Anderson would strengthen the batting too

I don't pretend to understand the nuances of Test cricket but surely if you are trying to save a match and you can't win, but need to stay in bat all day to draw, you don't come bounding down the track to try and smash the ball out of the ground and get bowled. #ashes2019 #roy
