Shattered isn’t a strong enough word. Tonight I lost part of my soul. Tonight I lost Juno.
That first pic is one of the most important photos I have of him. I took it after he helped me during one of the darkest moments of my life. I will never forget that look in his eyes. It helped me hold on, in that moment and long after.
Juno wasn’t a pet. He wasn’t only the best PTSD Service Dog ever. He was my best friend, my protector, and part of my soul. He was pure JOY and LOVE in a furry wrapping.
He was a kid at heart, always playful and goofy, but he could turn serious and into a protective warrior in an instant. That was Juno, loving, watchful, funny, loyal, and brave.
I am whatever is past shattered tonight. If you pray, please say one for Juno. He saved me in more ways than I can ever explain.
You would have loved him too. And he would have loved you. Unconditionally. That’s just who he was. I can only try to honor his memory by trying to love as strongly as he did. If that’s even possible.
I love you forever, buddy. Long live the memory of K9 Juno.

I suffer from chronic pain. The “war on opioids” took out the medication that allowed me to work. Now I’m over here mostly in bed, surviving on the scraps of meds my dr will prescribe. Meanwhile, people are dying from illicit drugs every day. I feel like a friendly fire victim.
