I’m not crying, you’re crying. Japanese researchers just moved a cat kidney disease drug toward regulatory approval, after 25 years of work. Chronic kidney disease is one of the biggest killers of cats. This is an injectable treatment built around a protein called AIM, discovered by Dr. Toru Miyazaki. If it reaches the market, the lead researcher says cats could live close to 30 years, double the current average of around 15. Hang in there, old cats.

Ah, I see what you did there. Lead with “support our veterans” while quietly steering the conversation toward policies that many chronic pain patients fear could further narrow real treatment choices. Supporting non-opioid options is fine, until “options” slowly become expectations, and expectations become barriers. If a veteran needs physical therapy, give it. If they need injections, give it. If they need surgery, give it. And if they legitimately need opioid medication after surgery, stop treating that like a moral failure.

@taymurph26 @ibdgirl76 I'm afraid it has already happened, which is why Bev and so many others are raising the alarm. Patients on long-term opioids were yanked off of their meds over the last decade, all in the name of deprescribing. None of us want to see that happen to patients on SSRIs.

‼️Tammy update 21 May‼️ Posted with Nour’s approval. The message I never wanted to write. Tammy is still with us, but doctors have now confirmed that the extent of the complications and the damage to her body are irreversible and, heartbreakingly, not survivable. Right now, she is being kept alive by machines while Nour tries to process the unimaginable weight of this news and face decisions no one should ever have to make, whilst refusing to give up hope of a miracle. For now, her care continues as they take the time needed to navigate these devastating moments. I have not stopped crying since hearing the news. I put on my CWNH T-shirt tonight just to feel a little closer to her. I know many of you will have questions, but right now I ask that we collectively wrap our arms around Nour and send all our love to the indomitable spirit that is Tammy. I also know many people have been worried about the cats. When the time comes, Nour will continue caring for them as we face a world without Tammy in it. Please keep them both in your thoughts and prayers. @catswithnohope
