How an uncorroborated Xinjiang account becomes “established fact” With polls indicating that young people in the West are increasingly favourable to China, it’s clearly time for a new round of intensification of the propaganda war. The New York Times has published a long profile of Zhang Yabo, a former Xinjiang police officer now seeking asylum in Germany, who describes nine years enforcing Xinjiang’s security campaign. Like similar stories seeking to provide first-hand evidence of large-scale human rights abuses in China, this one is riddled with sourcing problems. The reporter states plainly that she “could not corroborate exactly what he did or did not do in Xinjiang” and “relied on his telling of the story”. People working with Zhang in Germany told her “we knew only what he wanted us to know”. He is “fuzzier on the worst abuses”, offering “fewer details about death, sexual violence and torture”. Furthermore, Zhang is an asylum applicant, with the obvious interest that entails. And which are the voices backing up his story? Needless to say, Adrian Zenz puts in an appearance, first as “a Xinjiang expert”, later with his title at the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation – an organisation created by act of the US Congress in 1993 to memorialise the alleged victims of communism worldwide. Zenz is the person who popularised the claim – presented as truth in the second paragraph of this article – that “an estimated one million Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities were held in internment camps”. Zenz is a fanatical anti-communist and religious zealot who claims that he feels “led by God” to spread slander against China. His only qualification is his ideological commitment to the New Cold War. In terms of his record as a researcher and author, we should just mention that his other published work includes a book on biblical end-times which recommends “scriptural spanking” for unruly children and identifies homosexuality as one of “the four empires of the beast”. And what does Zenz say about Zhang? That he supplies “the ground-level reality of what we had mostly inferred” from documents and state media. Inferred! Nearly a decade after this slander campaign began, five years after the State Department declared a genocide, after parliamentary resolutions across the West and an entire sanctions architecture, and it turns out the “ground-level reality” was being “inferred”. The other body vouching for Zhang is the World Uyghur Congress, which is helping him settle in Germany. The WUC is funded by the National Endowment for Democracy, which has publicly boasted that the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act “builds on work of NED grantees”. It’s well documented that the NED spends millions annually cultivating exile organisations in Xinjiang and Tibet in order to destabilise China and spread Cold War propaganda. The NYT mentions none of this. The article’s central statistic – “an estimated one million” – carries no source at all. Its genealogy is well established: Zenz, Radio Free Asia, and the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, whose funders include the Australian government, the US State Department, the UK Foreign Office, Lockheed Martin and BAE Systems. Against this, the demographic record is stubborn. Xinjiang’s Uyghur population grew from around 10 million to 11.6 million between 2010 and 2020 – up 16 percent, against 2 percent growth for the region’s Han population. Life expectancy in Xinjiang has risen from about 30 years in 1949 to 77 today. All 420 poverty-stricken counties in China’s ethnic autonomous areas were lifted out of absolute poverty by 2021. Young people there receive fifteen years of publicly funded education. China’s overall incarceration rate is 121 per 100,000 – under a fifth of the US rate. Whatever this is, “genocide” is not the word for it, and two of the most eminent authorities to examine the claim have said so. Jeffrey Sachs and William Schabas – Schabas being among the world’s foremost scholars of genocide law – have argued that the US genocide determination, which rested substantially on Zenz’s work, should be withdrawn as unjustified. So what we’re left with is an uncorroborated account, from a man with a strong incentive, validated by an end-times ideologue at a Congressionally-founded anti-communist institute and by a State-funded exile organisation, printed on the NYT front page as established fact – and no doubt, in due course, cited by an array of future articles as evidence. The cycle of propaganda continues.

One thing nobody is really talking about - that is super fascinating… The bike industry is quietly having its “BYD moment.” For years, Chinese companies manufactured bikes for Western brands. Now the Chinese manufacturers are building world-class bikes under their own brands and selling for dramatically less. Feels very similar to what happened in the EV industry.

I used Kimi K3 to recreate Starship Flight 13’s landing burn and splashdown. Opus 5, GPT-5.6, and Claude Fable 5 can't do this. From the engine burn to the final splashdown sequence, the entire simulation was generated with AI. The level of realism and motion is genuinely impressive, and it’s another glimpse at how quickly AI is changing 3D simulation and visualization.

🧵Katy Perry released a statement claiming she was “deeply appalled” that the White House used her song, “Firework” over footage of the US hitting an Iranian ship. “I am deeply appalled and angry to see ‘Firework’ used on the White House TikTok account as a backing track for video footage of military strikes,” she said; “I did not approve this, I was not asked, and I absolutely do not condone it.” Yet Perry has previously volunteered herself to become the face of military recruitment in the United States. The music video to “Part of Me” was shot at Camp Pendleton Military Base in California, and shows her getting over a bad breakup by joining the Marines. The training process shows her finding herself again and growing as an individual. When Fox News asked Perry’s team if they had been paid by the military for the video, they refused to answer. The video has been watched over one billion times on YouTube alone.

You can't make this up: The US backed an electoral coup in Peru, putting in power Keiko Fujimori, the daughter of a fascist dictator who committed genocide. She just named her foreign minister: he worked as the US embassy's communications director for 15 years. Neocolonialism.

The African Youth Survey polled 4,901 respondents aged 18 to 24, in 16 of Africa’s 54 countries, and found that 95 percent of all those interviewed viewed China as an ally. This is quite possibly a reflection of the fact that China is helping African countries to build a road out of underdevelopment; it is actively working to modernise African countries’ infrastructure; it treats African countries as equals and respects their sovereignty; it doesn’t impose loan conditionality or unilateral sanctions; it doesn’t engage in coups, proxy wars or destabilisation campaigns; and it consistently upholds Africa’s interests at the UN and other international bodies.

A Chinese blogger paid an auntie double to cook a meal. She shopped like she was feeding family. At her home: bare walls, an outdoor stove — but she turned on the AC for him. At the table, she gave him all the meat and kept only vegetables. The video went viral. Chinese netizens and companies sent her a fridge, replaced her stove.

Asian men in America are pretty pathetic. Just come up with your own culture and ecosystem like for example the Blacks did. Stop appropriating Asian culture. A fucking White girl kpop fan is about as Asian as you, if not more so. Your girls leave you not because of WMAF brainwash or whatever. They leave you because you are second-class Whites who are more whiny. Be your own thing- neither temu Whites nor angry bananas nor silent cucks. Mainland China also lost tons of women before they found themselves. @0xJuliechen is giving the blueprint to Asian American liberation- and she ain't even American

Western-born diaspora Asian men think playing self-appointed 'cultural ambassadors' in the West entitles them to easy access to Eastern-born Indigenous Asian women. When they get rejected, they complain, exposing the same entitlement and Western superiority complex as White men.
