Quick update for you if you care about breast cancer, AI and improving successful breast cancer surgery rates… I have been the principal investor and shareholder at @PerimeterMed for some years now. We have a machine that cancer surgeons can use to tell them whether all the cancer has been taken out when they do tumor resection. We filed with the FDA for final approval to use AI to give cancer surgeons guidance in the operating room during surgery. We had the PI who did our latest trial do a readout of the results a few weeks ago. The principle investigator presented at the ASBrS annual conference. 1500 breast surgeons in the audience. - 88.1% margin accuracy - we reduced cancer load in 40% (14/35) of patients who had positive margins after standard of care - we completely cleared 7 of those - we also found 7 patients where both surgery and pathology missed cancer. I.E. those patients would’ve gotten a clean pathology report 10 days after surgery but in fact they would’ve still had cancer in their body. Note for everyone: Pathology only samples <1% of the surface area of excised tissue, we image 100%. Hoping to get approved soon and give surgeons and hospitals the ability to have these devices in every operating room ASAP. Also, while we have chosen to start with breast cancer, we will add other tumor types and other forms of cancer as well.
