New Yorkers with 16 or more speeding violations will now have to install devices in their cars to limit their driving speeds. The device will use GPS tracking to restrict how fast the car can drive to the posted speed limit. The device will be wired into the vehicle's onboard computer. If drivers refuse to install the device, their registrations will be revoked after 45 days.

Winning caused the fracturing of the Right. I've been watching the Right completely fragment and in-fight and posting even wilder stuff. I was trying to understand why. Why risk it all and toss unity and spin into crazier conspiracy theories that are clearly not as grounded. I think it comes down to money. After Trump won, there was less content to post about and the Left is in retreat, going quiet. Less content to talk about...so everyone went to drama and creating new content out of nothing and in-fighting drama. Sad to see. Not what Charlie would have wanted.

AMD is preparing a new budget graphics card called the Radeon RX 9050 for the RX 9000 series. The card uses the Navi 44 chip with 2048 processing units and 8GB of memory but runs at lower speeds than the RX 9060 models to use less power and stay affordable. It is made for 1080p gaming and only needs a 450W power supply, for budget PCs and small cases. No official price or release date has been announced yet, but it will likely cost under 250 dollars

@lauriewired Intel ran on a fluke they didn't fully understand when they began beating AMDs xII 6core offerings and the FX series. AMD had to overcome this near double performance gain and engineer a way forward. When the thing not understood was attacked, it had to be shut down. Gains lost.

CPUs tend to get slower with time. Probably not for the reason you’d expect. Unfortunately, many microcode updates are security related, which almost universally cause performance regressions…or even complete feature loss! Haswell might be the worst performing processor family of all time, in terms of features removed. TSX - concurrency instruction literally removed due to security concerns DX12 - removed / broken due to priv escalation Meltdown, Spectre, Foreshadow, MDS - all lead to perf regressions…for MDS specifically Red Hat and Microsoft still suggest disabling HyperThreading on Haswell! Over the life of a CPU, I’d expect the typical performance curve (from microcode) to look like: Initial Launch to +1 year, slight upward trend, platform maturing 1-2 years, mostly flat 2+ years, likely downward trend. Enough time has passed where security people are starting to poke/write papers indirectly leading to vendor microcode regressions 6+ years / EOL -> old CPUs start to have major regressions! I genuinely wonder if extremely performance-sensitive industries sometimes purposefully delay or otherwise remain on “stale” microcode…and just accept the additional risk.

I’ve been finally playing Atomic Heart & it’s a WEIRD ass game. It’s like if Bioshock got drunk off vodka & the main character is related to Duke Nukem meets BJ from Wolfenstein At first the humor didn’t work for me, but now I’m catching myself saying “Crispy Critters” randomly. Weird ass game tho keen to keep going tho I have so many games to catch up on man. What are some nice SHORT games that are very good in your opinion? Lmk

I can make a light bulb that lasts 100 years, too, if you don't mind running it 1/4 voltage and living by firelight. Bulbs burn out because we run them at 3000K. The only conspiracy was an agreement on color temperature. That forced better light and shorter lives.

@Pirat_Nation Unfortunately its hard to even promote the last game because it refuses to play well with recording/streaming software. OBS has to be downgraded multiple patches back or play under a lag fest because you had to use a generic method. I'll not subject viewers or myself to that.

@davepl1968 He must of missed the whole Starcraft Korean era when all of these thing were tested after they made it a concert sporting event in early 2000's. I think it came out to 1-5ms visual, and 10-30ms for top reaction.

I can start and stop a Casio stopwatch in 0.07 seconds, which is 70ms. 200ms is not instant...
