“Snow White” flopped so badly that Disney almost canceled the live action “Rapunzel” immediately after. “The Rings of Power” isn’t anywhere close to covering its production costs as the “most expensive tv show ever.” I know many diehard LOTR fans. None made it past 3 episodes of season 1. “Star Wars” was literally bought by Disney to have a more male fandom IP, which they bastardized with Mary Sue Rey and made Han Solo a loser and now even fans don’t care about “Star Wars” anymore. So… not sure what point this article is trying to make? I loved “The Iliad” and “The Odyssey” and think they should be required reading for everyone. Actually, probably everyone I know has read them. They’ve influenced many stories we’ve grown up on. Fans just want to see accurate adaptions. The writer uses the movie “Troy” as a comparison to be like “why are people upset that “The Odyssey” isn’t accurate because they liked “Troy.” Uh… because we know “Troy” is an inaccurate Trojan War movie and it’s not trying to be “The Iliad?” Obviously. It removes the gods, which were central in Homer. The Trojan Horse isn’t even IN “The Iliad.” So it’s not even an adaption. The problem is that “The Odyssey” is trying to be “The Odyssey” and not staying true to the character descriptions in the book. The audience wants to get lost into the film, not taken out of it.

@Variety People would rather race swap roles in white stories instead of demanding Hollywood give Nabwana I.G.G a big budget remake of Who Killed Captain Alex.

@BoundaryBreak I just dont see them as a wild departure. This is what I would expect them to look like in better graphics upgraded from SNES/N64 with clear inspiration from the original puppets. Save the boots. They changed the legs/feet quite a bit.

Was genuinely shocked to find theres a split on these redesigns. I thought for sure theyd be universally hated like the Sonic movie first draft. Seeing other opinions made me rethink my first reaction and im a little more open minded to this idea. But regardless of sort of buckling in and being open minded with what reality has become. I do still feel a few things that i dont think will change with hindsight: 1. Deviating THIS drastically from an original games intended artstyle is not the right way to handle a remake. Save this for a full on reboot. With REMAKES you want to shine the original games potential to its maximum. Not deviate away from what it was setting out to accomplish. There is no angle in which someone can argue in good faith that the developers envisioned Star Fox 64 in particular to look like this new game. 2. Starfox 64 is a reboot of Star Fox, Starfox 64 3D is a remaster of 64. Starfox Zero is a Reboot of 64. And now this is a reboot/remake hybrid. A lot of people are naturally fatigued that we cant get an all new story. 3. People not liking this is not hyperbolic or "looking for anything to cry about". Drastically changing a look often drastically changes an audience. Presentation in the games industry is a lot more important than people often give it credit. Being bold and doing a hard pivot away with what works can very easily lead to consequences in audience retention. And I mention that in particular because the negative reactions make perfect sense with that context. People who are loving it are baffled but should you honestly? You cant argue this is DRASTICALLY different not just from recent Foxs established look but also just a complete 180 from what 64 was going for. Its ok to love it in spite of that. But delusional to think everyone who would react more predictably is somehow faking outrage.

Ok, how do they even remotely evoke the puppets when the character design is nothing alike? Is it simply because of photorealism? Because that is extrapolating the simpler truth onto an artistic vision that isn’t there. They just wanted to make an ultra realistic take on SF. If you like it, all power to you. But I can’t in good conscience take seriously the claim that they’re emulating the OG puppets. Nothing about this is.

It seems the brand loyalists continue to prove their severe illiteracy to defend the new product. People have been defending the new designs claiming it’s meant to emulate the original SNES puppets. These tourists are blatantly wrong, they only say that because they were realistic in materials. There were real puppets to take pictures of. What these intellectually dishonest people don’t admit is that the puppets still are designed based on the stylized anthropomorphic designs that Imamura created. They barely have realistic animalistic features beyond their heads. They aren’t puppets designed to match designs straight out of Ubisoft’s Beyond Good and Evil like the new designs are. It’s clear the tourists using this argument weren’t even alive back then to know what these puppets looked like by heart. 😮‍💨 The gameplay does look great though, I’ll give them that.

@FyrusYT Glad they didn't. The movie design works okay for that movie but damn that's Disney/WB level of cartoony.

@Shokio_YT @dirk_the_slayer Who remembers the old leg debate of whether or not their have their feet amputated and those are robotic prosthetics because of the ankles? Such a wild speculation back in the day.

Starfox is such a simple franchise to nail bro I DON'T GET IT LMAO. Not only are we doing 64 AGAIN for the umpteenth time, but they go with these more realistic animal designs that sap a lot of the charm out of the series.

@ProfNoctis My one nitpick would be... Add the SNES Star Fox on the Switch 2 game as an unlock. Kids dont need to play it, but it would be a great "how far we've come" curiosity for them to experience a little of it without extra effort.

I for one am glad Star Fox 64 is getting a definitive, cutscene-dense remake— even if it’s only been a decade since the last one. It’s kind of like this: when I was a kid, I hated watching black/white tv shows like Andy Griffith or Leave it to Beaver. Why? Because those shows were “old.” Poor camera quality, outdated storylines, and vocal performances were grating. Similarly, this is why some kids won’t play retro games, and why important franchises need remakes. For those of us who had the originals, remakes make for a new opportunity to share our favorite old games reborn for a new generation. Think about it. A 13 year old today would’ve been 3 when the last Star Fox came out. This one is for them. It’s just an added bonus if us old guys also like it.

@OfficialPCMR It's fine for games to not have an easy mode. You're not entitled to a developer's work load and you're not entitled to tell them what their game MUST be. You're welcome to say you'd like difficulty settings. If they add them, play how you like. If they don't, play another game.

@DiscussingFilm So why did the Russos have him say "when you can do the things I can, and you don't, and then bad things happen..... they happen because of you." It's in THEIR OWN movie. But MCU seems to have decided Ben didn't exist since he doesnt even have a grave by May.

Joe Russo says Peter Parker wasn’t responsible for Uncle Ben's death in the MCU. “If he blamed himself for his Uncle Ben's death, I think he becomes a very different character… That would have been a different interpretation. A more intense interpretation of the character." (Source: cbr.com/russo-brothers…)

@shantplace And Raimi's organic choice is a cop out. He made a film where we accept a very average guy makes a fully functioning prosthetic hand using middle ages blacksmithing tools in a 2 minute montage.

@shantplace The webshooters also work because he's a introvert nerd with no social life. He reads about engineering, he tinkers with dumpster dived tech. Modern day adding YouTube & the internet? He could design stuff and cobble it together low budget. Peter is on Stark's level.

THE “14-YEAR-OLD SPIDER-MAN” DETAIL THAT DOESN’T ADD UP 🤔 - When Spider-Man meets Iron Man for the first time, he is 14 years old. - Despite being so young, Spider-Man is able to create highly advanced web shooters. - He builds these web shooters without proper knowledge or advanced technology. - His chemical webs are extremely strong. - However, realistically, a 14-year-old child should not be able to create such high-tech web shooters. - Because of this logic, Tobey’s Spider-Man was given natural (organic) webs. - The director of the Spider-Man movie stated that a 14-year-old wouldn’t have enough knowledge to create such advanced web shooters without technology. - Therefore, Tobey’s Spider-Man was designed with natural webs to make him feel more realistic. - This is also why Tobey’s Spider-Man is considered the most different version.
