@hmbark Hi Hamish. E-mail me at support@(you know the domain). I think I know what this could be and how to fix it.

The May 2021 update is somewhat less ground-breaking than we would have liked, but we did set our sights pretty high before Covid-19 and other factors set in and, consequently, we've had to readjust our expectations accordingly. Please watch the video youtu.be/kxT3nF_A0bU

@WhatAintInside Had to laugh a couple weeks ago. Reached for a DM42 to test a theory. Wouldn't switch on. Didn't have time so reached for another. Went back to first later on and understood why it wouldn't work: I'd forgotten I'd removed the battery a few days earlier but image still on LCD!

@SwissMicros Wow, thanks for clarifying. Even beyond the memory effect this is like no other LCD I’ve seen w.r.t. contrast, clarity and viewing angle.

@Dr_Franklund The DM42 runs on something much better than the LPC1115 :) It runs on an STM32L476 clocked at up to 80 MHz and with 1MB of flash ROM and 128KB of RAM. The "Voyager" look-alike models run on the LPC1115 (48MHz, 64KB ROM, 8KB RAM)

@BorealCoder It has the same fp abilities as the HP-41CX because, to all intents and purposes, it *is* a 41CX. Or, at least it's running the ROMs of the 41CX anyway. The DM42 has that amazing precision only because it runs Free42 Decimal under the hood.

SwissMicros is proud to present the DM41X! The DM41X is a functional look-alike of the HP-41CX in the same hardware as the already well-established DM42 with a re-designed keyboard action. More on the new SwissMicros website at swissmicros.com

@Fortran Extra hardware, no. But you most certainly can "plug" software modules in if you have the .MOD files...

The DM42 just arrived. It is awesome! The build quality is outstanding, and the display is the best I've seen on a calculator. You may have outdone yourself, building better HP calculators than HP could. John Sonewald, Knoxville Tennessee, USA swissmicros.com/whatcustomerss…

Customer report: Thank you for creating the DM42. It is very high quality, it is superior to the HP-42S in every way. I was concerned about paying $200, but now that I have it in hand it's clearly worth every cent. Chris Hanson, Software Engineer, Google Mountain View

The back of the new samples is PVD coated and shiny, that will change to matte. The shift-key now is a solid yellow blank plastic button.
