@Yukon_GoldRef @Simon_Ingari once you get to a certain level on your career, you realize that the most inportant proprietary info isn't the code - it's the experience burned into your brain...so yeah, all of these tactics are pretty childish and ensure you never return
thankfully none of mine were like that

@Simon_Ingari Because companies can be sued into oblivion or otherwise lose millions to competitors if an employee decides to leave with customer data or proprietary/confidential data

Employee sending in 14-day notice
1990s:
- Receives send-off perks
- Continues to work till last day
- Full salary offered
- Exit handled with dignity and respect
2026:
- Logged out of system immediately
- Security alert issued
- Salary withheld for 'unknown' reasons
- Locked out of office
- Team warned to cut communication
Why do companies require employees to submit a 14-day notice, but once they do, they are fired immediately or treated as unwanted!

Took me almost a month, but it’s finally done.
I completely rewrote the first chapter of linux-insides about the Linux kernel initialization process. Now it should be aligned with modern kernels (up to master).

@never_released yeah... noticed, was kind of hoping it's transient, but I'm guessing that's the end of that chapter

Well this is just downright intriguing.
VitruvianOS. Linux kernel with a BeOS / Haiku API compatibility layer. And its own display server (not X11 or Wayland).
They just made their first real release (0.3)… and, judging by the issues on GitHub… it’s very, very Alpha.
But this is unique enough that it’s worth a look.
From the developers:
“What we’ve created isn’t just a BeOS-compatible desktop—it’s an entirely different approach to what a Linux desktop could be.
Decades of desktop OS development have been constrained by the X server model and later by Wayland. But what if you could do something different?”

This is an exciting announcement: PicoMEM for Microchannel! Take my PS/2 Model 70 386 for example: it only has 3 slots. I imagine I can use the PicoMEM to replace the network card and McIDE-CF. This will also bring sound support to it!

Here is the WonderMCA, the MCA #PicoMEM by Vincent Besson / VIBR He started by doing a PicoMEM reverse engineering, Then I helped to adapt the multiplexing to the MCA. It is running the PicoMEM 2 Firmware. #MCA #PS2 r3tr0.net
