When it comes to #data, key challenges affect ✈️: ➡️ Inconsistent laws (e.g., 🇪🇺 GDPR vs. 🇨🇦 legislation on consent) ➡️ Extraterritoriality complicates which law applies to passengers ➡️ Conflicting laws hinder cross-border data transfers bit.ly/41vv6pB #IATAGMD

@British_Airways flew their #jumbo fleet up to x 7 times a day to #jfkairport , so it’s no surprise that it’s one of our most requested destinations🗽 Overflying the Canarsie VOR and cleared for landing on runway 13L ✈️ #britishairways #boeing747 744experience.co.uk

@Swissqp Suspect you’re right Tim. Controls were otherwise as expected - so easy enough to drive. 3 is having a replacement transfer box for the XDrive. 😳🙄

Several hours spent in this Beemer courtesy car today. Bearing in mind my reference is a 100k F31… Most impressed by: refinement and NVH Least impressed by: needless over-complication and fripperies on the displays and around the cabin. Steering, power, ride - all fine.

The @Breitling #Chronomat GMT 47 is in my humble opinion the best #pilot watch around. Triple timezones, chronograph and calendar functions all in an elegant design you can either dress up or down. As a measure to fight jet lag, I’ve always set my destination’s local time as my primary time zone and since I’m on a commercial flight to Madrid the local time is set to 23:51:32. The GMT hand always remains unchanged so that reads 21:51:32 and the outer bezel is rotated to show local East Coast time which is 17:51:32. Yeah smart watches have a lot more functionality but us old souls really do enjoy the classics.. I’ll see you all in #Zaragoza for some tapas and wine! #aviation #airlinepilot #pilots

@Swissqp Thanks Tim. I’m in two minds about the BMW. Closing in on 100,000 miles and it’s been faultless, aside from - ahem - the transfer box and now the rear differential (it has xDrive). Unlucky? Perhaps. I’m hoping the extended warranty will see me through on the diff… 🤞

Dog wakes me up at 0100, 0241 and 0537. BMW diagnosed with failing rear diff. Too-young family friend loses battle with cancer. A spot of lunch. Slightly dreading the second half of the day. 😏

@miami_rick Funny you should mention #Miami. Just in the AA Flagship lounge after spending a week with my boy who is doing his ATPL at Vero Beach. He follows you too. You’re a real inspiration!

As a child growing up in #Miami , the parking lot at Doral’s International Mall was a special place for me. Why? Well, while my parents and siblings would all venture into the maze of shops a few yards away, I would sit on the hood of our family car and watch airplanes overhead flying their final approach into what was back in those days runway 9 Right at @iflymia. This place was of particular interest to me because I had a clear view of all sorts of old airliners from 727s, DC-10s, 757s & 767s, L-1011s, 747s (SP, -100, -200 & -300s, the -400 wasn’t operational yet!), DC-8s, 707s and even the odd DC-6, DC-7 and even the Constellation cycle their landing gear down just prior to flying right over the top of my head! What sights and sounds!! Today, as a 747 Captain and over my 2+ decades as an #airlinepilot, whenever I fly into Miami, I put my landing gear down over the same exact spot an 8 year old me would see others do the same, hoping that’d be me one day. There’s a little bit more to it than that however… Stabilized approach criteria demands we are completely configured no later than 1,000’ above field elevation (AFE) and so it’s helpful to keep a few figures in mind. Under normal circumstances, with the hydraulics operating normally every Boeing jet’s landing gear, at least the ones I’ve flown, takes 300’ to extend and lock into place so if you call for the gear to be extended at 2000’ AFE, the gear will be down and locked by 1,700’. Then there’s the final flap selection, be it 25 or 30 both of which take in the order of about 100’ to be called for, selected and deployed. That puts us at 1,600’. Another 100’ or so until the 3 item landing checklist is called for and completed and there you have it. Completely stabilized by no later than 1,400’, a full 30 seconds to 1,000’ AFE at a nominal 800 foot per minute descent on your 3° glide path. As for who is that? That would be @Iberia’s flight 6117 from beautiful #Madrid just now operating their @Airbus #A350 flanked by a pair of tall palm trees with the #SouthFlorida sky as a backdrop. Can you think of anything more Miami than that?
