Got to talk to Laiatu Latu about this play from last year. Was interesting to hear him talk about how he tries to tie throwing hands as a threat to the tackle to shift their balance before his spins. Multiple players were talking spin move with him during Sack Summit

Sack Summit was a success! I was able to present some of the film work @SumerSports is doing to the entire group, players were sharing so much detail with each other, and the on-field session was full of top players teaching the finer points of how they win

Had a lot of fun showing what @SumerSports has been working on for players at Day 1 of Sack Summit. Excited to show even more at tomorrow’s film session!

Using data from @SumerSports, we can look at the run concept that was shown on a play action fake to see what is most effective Gap and duo run concepts tied to play action fakes work the most effectively despite not being used nearly as often as zone concepts @SyedSchemes theorized that play action plays that involved an offensive lineman pulling would be highly effective and was correct. Inside zone fakes don’t seem to impact defenses as much Defenses seem to be comfortable fitting zone action from split-safety structures. Gap scheme action can put more stress on the second-level defenders by creating a more violent run picture to get LBs moving downhill and open up clean windows behind them (Duo fakes also saw a huge efficiency jump in 2025 because of the Rams. This creates some selection bias for sure. Would still recommend an OC utilize more gap concepts on their play action plays.) (Also I understand the high volume of zone will drag the efficiency down, which is why I included the confidence intervals and controlled for situation, personnel, formation, offense and season)
