Reflecting on @VitalikButerin's tweet today about #Ethereum's original L2 vision being defunct, I was reminded of my post below a few years ago: x.com/VitalikButerin… Projects deploying on L2s without maximizing user acquisition on mainnet are missing the forest for the trees.

If projects built on #Ethereum aren't making progress in user aquisition, being on a L2 isn't necessarily going to solve the problem. Mainnet transactions have not dropped amidst the rise of L2s. In fact, 1/14/24 is the record for single-day transactions: etherscan.io/chart/tx

Today @jpmorgan, the world's largest bank by market cap per @WSJ, announced they're launching their first ever tokenized money market fund—MONY—on Ethereum. The firm is seeding the fund with $100M of its own capital before opening to outside investors on Tuesday.

An under appreciated fact about @LiquityProtocol is that its core team doesn't direct protocol revenue to themselves. They were allocated $LQTY tokens at genesis and sold some to investors, and have sustained operations since 2021, having shipped $LUSD, @ChickenBonds, and $BOLD.

Whether through trying to launch a 2nd token or redirecting value to its own equity, Aave Labs has been deeply parasitic to the Aave DAO. The biggest threat to any token and DAO is a competing, independent equity vehicle. AAVE tokenholders should push back much more aggressively against this long-term risk and support the work being done by @Marczeller.

A distinct way this may be executed would be for Botto as an AI artist to be allotted voting points that "live on" from burned $BOTTO. Botto could thus get a cut of revenue for the DAO treasury, alongside active voters. Over 6M $BOTTO tokens have been burned via prior buybacks.

"It’s completely unreasonable to keep the revenues for your dev co while minting yourself tons of tokens to dump on the heads of people who think they’ll get those revenues." When @bottoproject launched in 2021, all revenue went to $BOTTO holders. Time to revive that, @BottoDAO.

To me, the recent drop in #crypto markets feels a lot like the end of 2016, particularly for #Ethereum. ETH peaked in the summer that year. "The DAO" hack happened and it then steadily fell, thereafter breaking out to new highs in 2017. Perhaps 2026 will be the same. We'll see.

Unlike much of "DeFi," @LiquityProtocol's team built their v2 stablecoin, $BOLD, with both decentralization + utility in mind. $BOLD is immutable + there's no opacity: docs.liquity.org/v2-faq/bold-an… $LQTY stakers direct protocol incentivized liquidity. There's no governance otherwise.
