@acteduweininger It is, the biggest difference between the US and the ANZACS was that America underwent (several) ethnogenesis processes that just didn't really have time to occur fully here

The idea of a hermetically distinct “New Zealand” identity and nationalism separate from our homeland in the British isles is one of the most retarded ideas of the late twentieth century boomer libtards in this country. Our nationalism is Anglo nationalism. That is who we are.

I think one of the big things preventing zoomer men from 'Bootstrapping' themselves is that status requires legitimate hierarchies to climb, and to post-post-ironic zoomers pretty much every societal aspiration, from academia to business, is seen as illegitimate to some degree.

You’re going to have to give young men status and wealth, but everyone would literally rather die than do that, so fertility is going to continue to go down.

@acteduweininger Like yes you don't want to be under the thumb of another nation forever, but I think in an alt history that if the empire could have lasted a few more decades they could have formed a more coherent historical mythos and develop a stronger sense of self.

@acteduweininger Aus and NZ weren't at the stage where they really had a solid (and independent) nationalist identity before they were the colonial empires were killed of, and I think it really stunted our cultural development, like kicking a child out and them ending up on the street.

@GMShivers If you're a trucker, and really want your labor to contribute purely to yourself, can't you turn yourself into an owner operator and take contracts directly from companies? Or pivot into something tangential like furniture removal? Seems like there's options there.

I do not understand this mentality. You guys have how money is made completely ass backwards. I design a pair of panties. I make them from my house. I popularize a pair of panties. I can sell those panties for 30$. I get a lot of orders for the panties, so I hire more people to make panties. I am now the CEO of Pineapple Pantsu Inc You are bringing boxes of pairs of panties to people who want to sell them in their store. Without the boxes of panties, you are pantyless. You do not have money, you do not have a job. Neither do the people I also hire extra to make more panties. You're not just hauling boxes of random "Your labor value" across the country, you're hauling other people's labor my guy. Trucking margins are like 2-8%. The government is making everyone's life ass. man. Some day you guys are gonna have to realize that if you want a socialist or communist state you cannot tolerate the waste that's eating at affordability. If everyone put this amount of hate and energy towards govt waste everyone would be doing better.
Commie Trucker@commie_trucker

No. My labor feeds and houses my family, it feeds and houses my CEO’s family as well.

@_space_punk_ Outside of your classic few bible translations, I've found it quite hard to find good primary translations for religious texts. It's all the pop history or select quote compilations from new age mindfullness types, tbh I even have trouble finding an English translated Quran.

@SyntheticAnima If its findable in a book, can it really be said to be esoteric? Fully with you on the slop thing; I was very preplexed to learn of such a genre's popularity myself, especially in light of the lack of popularity of reading primary texts. Just read sutras.

Broke: Buddhism is a secular science/philosophy Woke: Buddhism talks about supernatural beings, magic, and heaven/hell and is thus a religion Bespoke: magic, siddhis, heaven, hell, nagas, demons, pisacas, putanas, apsaras, devas, kinnaras, and mahoragas are are observably real (insofar as anything beyond bodhichitta and emptiness can be said to be "real") and therefore Buddhism is science

@ThomBrady5 @romanhelmetguy If you grew up I'm the 20th century it was easy to believe in continuous progress as an inevitability, and it's kinda hard for older people to shake such a fundamental assumption now that we're seeing progress isn't something guaranteed by historical forces or 'dialectics'.

Ok I will explain. Every complete ideology has a very specific relation to the past, present, and future: The past was perfect, because X hadn’t yet done Y. Then X did Y, and now we live in the fallen present. But in the future, X will stop doing Y, and everything will be perfect again. Ideologies really really need that “the past was perfect” part, because it proves that their future utopia is possible. You will notice that even religions have this structure. The Greek pagans had the Golden Age, Christianity has the Garden of Eden. Communism has this structure. Marx wrote in The Communist Manifesto that “The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles.” But Engels had to add a footnote clarifying that he only meant *written* history, and that once upon a time, “primitive communistic societies” existed everywhere. Why? Because Engels realized that if class struggle had always existed, then that undermined the communist case that class struggle could be eliminated. Communism needed its own Garden of Eden. Now, modern historians and archaeologists aren’t (all) communists. But most are what some people have recently started calling “race communists.” That is, they strongly agree with these statements about the present and the future: “We live in a fallen world where people hate each other based on race and ethnicity. But in the future, people will stop hating each other based on race and ethnicity, and everyone will live together in peace and harmony.” The problem is, that’s not a complete ideology. It needs a corresponding belief about the past. It needs: “In the past, people didn’t hate each other based on race and ethnicity.” Otherwise, their peaceful utopian future becomes unbelievable. And so, wherever possible, whenever an iota of doubt could be created, archaeologists and historians tried to rewrite history and edit out ethnic conflict. The Indo-European invasions? That was a mere migration of “pots, not people.” The Anglo-Saxon conquest of Britain? Just a small number of mostly peaceful immigrants who assimilated the Romano-Briton majority to their culture. Rome was an anti-racist multicultural paradise. Etc etc etc. But anyway, now DNA has shown all that to be bullshit, so guys like David Reich (who actively participated in this censorious editing of history btw) are starting to give up and move on.
Jacob Shell@JacobAShell

I still genuinely dont understand why the idea that neolithic peoples engaged in violent conquests would be “a political problem.”

Bootstrapping is kind of the wrong concept. Almost all successful people had mentorship, as well as opportunities laid before them when young. This is what Zoomer men lack -- the inspiring teacher, the uncle who teaches them to fix cars, the professor who needs a research assistant, the internship, the paralegal. If you're White and male, you're essentially relying on having good parents (or parents rich enough to send you to a high quality private school). Even then, many avenues are just straight up locked to you; there's still old White guys writing for the NYT or LAT, but not a single White male intern or under-25 employee. The door is just slammed in your face. So what do you do? - Create "content," invest, or do other online activities. You can be successful here, because the barriers are not yet completely structural; the cream rises to the top. - Work in the shrinking set of fields that are not closed to you. The "trades" seems to be the main one that people talk about. - Drive Uber, tend bars, work at Subay/gas stations, do "lower-middle class" activities. - Be Jewish. They have durable, cross-generational networks. - Be rich and don't spend it all. If you inherit some money, you can sit on it invested well, and not really have to work at all. - Troon out. Tons of doors fly open and tons of support/hiring networks materialize to hire trans people. And if you jump into a women's support network, you'll often be rocketed to the top above biological females.

@MiddleearthMixr There’s so many ways this could have worked. Off the top of my head, Tim could’ve dressed up as a gay frog and destroyed the studio as “revenge.” There are jokes to be made here, but they decided virtue signaling was more important than making people laugh.
