#Syria: The source who leaked the Tadamon massacre videos from the very beginning was a young Alawite man who first passed these footage to an opposition activist in France, and then to Professor Ugur Umit Ungor and Ansar Shahood in order to bring the perpetrators of the massacre to justice. Quote from the Guardian: “In leaking the video, first to an opposition activist in France, and then to the researchers, Annsar Shahhoud and Prof Uğur Ümit Üngör, from the University of Amsterdam’s Holocaust and Genocide Center, the source had to overcome the fear of being caught and probably killed and the distress of potentially being cast out from his family – prominent members of Assad’s Alawite sect, which holds the main levers of power in what remains of Syria. He would eventually learn that even as hundreds of people around the world worked to bring Assad to justice for war crimes, the video would end up being a standout piece of evidence in the case against the Syrian leader.” Source: theguardian.com/world/2022/apr…

#Syria: Arrest of Amjad Youssef, the #Tadamon Massacre Perpetrator, Exposed by an Alawite Journalist Amjad Youssef, the main suspect in the Tadamon massacre near Damascus, where unarmed civilians were killed on April 16, 2013, has been taken into custody. The man behind the massacre was unmasked by journalist Ansar Shahhoud, who went undercover as a pro-Assad loyalist to infiltrate the inner circles of Military Intelligence in 2022. Her sole mission was to identify the perpetrator after the now-infamous videos fell into her hands. She eventually handed The Guardian what many regard as the most significant digital intelligence breakthrough in Syrian history. Worth noting: Ansar herself is Alawite, as was the source who originally leaked the footage.

Yes. Because I do not care for Rania, since she is a tankie that spent much of the 2010s defending war crimes in Syria, and is from the diaspora (different political motivations, dynamics, etc.) I care more about why her father, a Druze born and raised in Lebanon, had the politics that he did, as did many in his generation.

كنت مع الجزيرة وبعد قليل على الإخبارية السورية عن القاء القبض على المجرم السادي #أمجد يوسف. شهرة أمجد يوسف جاءت من قيامه بتصوير نفسه وهو يقتل ويحرق ويركل الضحايا، هذا أمر نادر ما نوثقه في المجازر الأسدية. وهذا يشير إلى حالة سادية، وهو نتيجة طبيعية للمنظومة الأسدية المتوحشة التي كنا نصفها مرارا وتكرارا، لكن الفيديو والصورة أبلغ من ألف كلمة. لم يكن يتخيل لا هو ولا أحد في المنظومة الأسدية أنه سوف تتم محاسبتهم، كان يتفاخر بالاعتداء على الضحايا ويتلذذ بإرهابهم.

I failed to finish reading the article.. I could not watch the video..I was shaking and shivering. The details are chilling and horrific. What is scary is that, this is only one of many horrendous crimes committed in Syria where victims are forgotten. Shame on the world

In April 2013, Assad henchmen massacred nearly 300 people in Tadamon, Damascus. 41 were blindfolded, hands tied & ordered to run, not seeing they would fall into a deep pit on top of other victims as Amjad Youssef shot them and comrades filmed him.
