With respect to Dr. Yarnell, this is not correct. The Word of God comes to us before any creed. Furthermore, Southern Baptists are clear about the doctrine of God from their confessional documents and have affirmed the Nicene Creed in a recent resolution. A refusal to deal plainly with the issue of a "human office" ordained for Christ's church is a diversion from faithfulness that leads us down an egalitarian path.

@StephArnettMS Great question. The Bible emphasizes that Cain’s line represents the way of rebellion, while Seth’s line represents the path through which God’s promise would continue. The flood “resets” humanity, and God’s covenant promise flows through Noah, a descendant of Seth, not Cain.

Just curious Doc @TAndrewBrown 🤔 Did Cain’s lineage die/end with the flood? And while I should have considered this before - I obviously never did 🤷🏼‍♀️

Recent cultural events—especially the tragic death of Charlie Kirk—shaped the way I preached today. In a week when our nation has been shaken by violence, I reminded our church of the hope no bullet can extinguish and no empire can overcome. Jesus Christ is alive!

@StephArnettMS I can see where that would be confusing. Remember the KJV was written 1611. Words change in expression. Such as awful - full of awe not terrible. Replenish meant fill completely not fill again back in 1611.

Last week Mom went home to be with the Lord. The week before, I preached on the resurrection; the next Sunday, I stood at her funeral proclaiming that same hope. Tomorrow, I’ll preach on the Ascension from John 14: Jesus is risen, Jesus is ascended, Jesus is God for us.

@philipnation 1 Timothy 2:4-6 - God’s salvation plan is not a process to follow but a Person to receive—Jesus Christ, who Himself is our reconciliation.
