Tapes and records, alternative comics, crime pulps, beer mats and crap football. Usual pathetic stuff - you know the type.

@ConorMcNamaraIE Decent Type II blank tapes them - still got a few in the wrapper. They were slighty cheaper than TDK CDing too, if I recall.

This has just resurfaced in a clean-out of old boxes. My first ever commentary. I no longer own a cassette player. Possibly, for the best...

@TheIDSmiths I much preferred the WH Smiths logo when the W, H and S looked like they were in a 3D cube. English graphic design at it's finest before post neoclassical endogenous growth theory ruined it all.

I first joined Twitter because I was dismayed about the closure of Woolworths and wanted to find a community of people who felt the same way. Anyway, next thing I knew I was firebombing a mosque

@bradleyflett @HallamFC1860 Sure, but have you done it on Emlyn Hughes' International Soccer on the Amstrad CPC464? If not, get to the back of the queue.

@Britpopmemories @ReaLouisewener The things Louise had to put up with - even more respect for her, when you look back at interviews like this. Was reminded that Sleeper did a great Peel session around this time, which I had on tape. Nice Guy Eddie was on the Romeo Me CD single, not sure about the other tracks.

Here’s Louise Wener in the NME 30 years ago. As usual she’s giving good and lively content for the paper!

@TheStarOwls Hope they leave the iconic Presto roof alone - that should be listed as being architecturally and culturally significant.

@GoodwinMJ There’s actually a problem with the new reform councillors talking . They have declined tv interviews, including post victory at the count . Last Sunday reform put a former Tory N Yorks councillor on politics north , as no Barnsley candidate was available. Sounds odd , 🤔

People are not talking enough about Barnsley council. Has been Labour for more than half a century. Reform just came from nowhere, a standing start, to take 42 seats and the entire council. Insane.

Brown and Harman (rightly) deeply respected across Labour movement. Strategy clear-use grandees to cement PM in place. But risks clear too. If this is extent of reset it hardly reeks of change/adverts to Starmer’s lack of authority. Can’t do full reshuffle so stuck with this.
Steven Swinford@Steven_Swinford

BREAKING Gordon Brown is back Keir Starmer has appointed Brown as his special envoy on global finance Brown will advise the PM on how global finance cooperation can improve the economic security and resilience Not quite clear how the role will work or where he fits in with Reeves But it’s a big move by the PM in the face of increasingly mutinous Labour MPs

NEW: After giving Harriet Harman a job, Keir Starmer has now made Gordon Brown his Special Envoy on Global Finance. A Labour source says: “It’s the Government of the Auld Talents.”

Several times this morning the BBC Today sports reporter has suggested Millwall last played in the "Premier League" in 1990. No they didn't. In 1990 the top level in football was called Division One of the Football League.

@PulpLibrarian I rewatched Lynda La Plante's 'Killer Net' recently, which was interesting (and good fun). I remember watching it at the time as an internetless 18 year old and not getting it. Worth watching for @Linoleumband on the soundtrack, if nothing else.

Hackers (1995). It's always fun to see how film makers tried to visualise cyberspace in the '90s. In Hackers it's not all CGI; a mix of motion control photography, model making and rotoscoping is also used to suggest that supercomputers are cool. "All right, let's boot up..."
