What happened next should scare the hell out of us.
At first, paradise. Mice bred rapidly, mothers cared for their young, males protected the group. Then, even with endless resources, everything collapsed.
Aggression exploded in crowded zones. Mothers abandoned their pups. Cannibalism appeared. Birth rates plummeted. Some mice completely checked out — the “beautiful ones” — obsessively grooming themselves in isolation while society fell apart around them.
The entire colony died off in what researcher John Calhoun called the “behavioral sink.”
The Flagrant guys draw a chilling parallel to modern dense cities: abundant resources, yet rising tribalism, collapsing birth rates, social withdrawal, and people who have “everything” but feel profoundly disconnected.

Actually, being able to quickly reactive your reserve fleet is a pillar of sustainability. About 15% of all the aircraft in the boneyard are kept in a ready reserve state.
In comparison, Russia can't yank an Il-78 or A-50U out of its ass.

USAF just pulled a KC-135 out of the boneyard and is restoring it for active duty. Tanker demand is surging. KC-46 rollout is lagging. So they’re bringing old warhorses back to keep global ops moving. This is not what winning looks like, sadly.

BIG: After evacuating the second crew member of the downed F-15E, the U.S. had to destroy two HC-130J Combat King II rescue aircraft and two helicopters that, for unknown reasons, were unable to leave Iran. The aircraft were blown up on the ground to prevent them from falling into Iranian hands after landing at an improvised refueling site. Three additional HC-130J Combat King II aircraft were then dispatched to continue the combat search-and-rescue mission.

Something about this F15 crew rescue doesn't add up. Why would one need C130s (carry 60-70 troops) for rescuing one or two aircrew and maybe a few troops whose helicopter got shot down during the rescue. It looks more like spl forces were in a temporary base with C130s etc. 1/3

I’m noticing a lot of foreigners who seem to not understand why we’d risk hundreds of lives, spend millions of dollars, and sacrifice several aircraft to rescue one guy. And the reason they don’t understand is also the reason people can’t be made American by a piece of paper.
